Should Gallup Answer As To Why They Gave Such A Biased Prediction Of The Electorate In 010 And 012?

If they do not, perhaps major media outlets should refrain from citing their polls...

1. Signs are that wingnuts are feeling betrayed by Gallup as well

as Rasmussen.

Will the media wake up?

2. Even better. I think the media needs to answer as to why they hold

Gallup with such high regard? As you and others on this board know, there were days during the campaign where more accurate polls were available but the MSM (including MSNBC) always went with Gallup to set up their news stories.

We would have 5-7 accurate polls depicting where the race was. But in the MSM, only Gallup and Rasmussen were usually reported. And those numbers were some of the worst of the campaign season.

The IBD/TPP tracking poll has been dead on accurate now for 3 straight elections (2004,2008, 2012). I have said that on this message board for months. I don't understand why I am aware of this, but people who are paid to report on politics are apparently clueless as to where to get accurate information.

I also lost a lot of respect for Gallup with their bogus story about Obama miraculously making up 5 points over the course of just 3-4 days. As was predicted on this board, this was done entirely to at least make Gallup somewhat respectable when the final election tally came out.

What happened was as transparent and obvious as it gets. So why are we the only people seemingly who are aware of it? If Gallup were truly the "gold standard" of polling, they at least should have had the guts to stand by their true polling, instead of copying other firms polling work to try and look respectable in the end.

After this election cycle, I really don't care what Gallup has to say about anything. They were that bad.

Oh... I forgot, it was also funny that on election day, suddenly Obama had a 52% approval rating. As the election night showed, he was never really in serious danger of not being re-elected. I never bought the idea that he was in the low to mid 40s for approval, which is where Gallup had him for most of his first term.

6. I don't think it's bias as much as they're dinosaurs.

Been around a long time rested on their laurels and reputation and the past few electorates have completely caught them off guard.

Media will catch on soon and eventually replace them with aggregates. The days of using one poll only are gone.

7. Frank Newport is too smug to answer for anything

He's a jackass who doesn't even do that effectively.

Gallup's polls make no sense. Other polls sway based on recent events so they may be accurate at a moment in time even if you know damn well the race won't end up there. Gallup often spits out numbers that I'd love to bet against each and every day of the year, that the margin was NEVER what they indicated. Then they'll conveniently lurch back in the other direction even if nothing of consequence happened. That holds true in their presidential approval ratings as well.
