I got this in my e-mail and thought it would be okay to share it here:
Allen West isn't the only extreme right-winger dangling by a thread. Republican Rep. Dan Lungren, the grandfather and champion of the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), is trailing Daily Kos-endorsed Democrat Ami Bera by 184 votes.
Here's the problem: there are tens of thousands of votes left to be counted, and Ami Bera is flat broke. His campaign spent all of its money on the voter turnout efforts that earned him this small lead.
Bera's campaign needs money to pay staff as they work to make sure every vote is counted. He is going to need a lot of help, too, because Lungren loves to fight losing legal battles. Lungren is the guy who authorized the $1.5 million in taxpayer dollars to defend the DOMA after the Obama administration decided to stop propping up a law they determined was unconstitutional.
Please chip in $3 to Ami Bera’s Every Vote Counts Fund. Bera is a fantastic progressive, and this could get expensive for him quickly.
