David Frum, please shut up :)Last edited Fri Nov 9, 2012, 07:27 PM USA/ET - Edit history (1)
This is the only conservative who actually gets it. This guy could be trouble if anybody ever listened to him.
He is speaking on Tweety's show, and is already out with a book "Why Romney Lost." He started it 6 weeks ago because unlike every other Republican, he deals with reality. I've always liked Frum. He makes good arguments for conservative ideas.

1. I for one hope they do listen
|
A one party system is not good for the country and that's where we are headed if Republicans don't change course.

3. I agree!

We need 2 strong viable parties. Even though we are in the Dem camp, unlimited power with no check is dangerous for everyone.

They are eating their own. I see no movement toward moderating by most of their mediots and their followers. If anything they seem even more indignant, which works for me if that's the way they want it.

Any elected Republican who listens to Frum and follows Frums advise would be removed by the nutbags in a primary.
the demand for ideological purity by the baggers will not allow any deviations from the requirements. |

11. It really is a party of scared, old, white, men plus a few others
|
You just cannot bring on other demographics without losing some of your scared, old, white, men demographic.
David Frum is from a time and place where that was not the definition of the Republican Party. But he is speaking the truth, whether or not others listen to him. Others are saying they need to "make gestures" to bring in the other demographics not-so-scared, younger, not-as-pasty-white, not do male types. Not only is that incompatible with scared, old, white, men, a gesture won't do it. Gestures might work for a day or a week, but people eventually figure out whether you are sincere or just trying to exploit somebody. To attract women, they actually have to treat women with respect, and scared, old, white, men don't do that. Likewise for Latinos, blacks, Asians, younger people ... They will never genuinely embrace "others". The whole party has been build based on a disdain for everybody who is not a scared, old, white, man. Things go in cycles. Eventually there will be a conservative party that is not based on scared, old, white, men, and it will probably look a lot like what Frum is advocating. I bet I don't see it in the next 15 years. |

He was on her show once when it first started. He insulted her, ridiculed her when she was trying to interview him. He is a pig. And simply is saying what he thinks will sell best.

But certainly optimism in the ability of people to advance is always nice to think about.
An apology as public as his attack would be a good start. Or, at least acknowledgment of how horribly insulting it was to go to her house, on her show, and attempt to publicly humiliate her. |
