Related: About this forumTeleprompter Trump in Charlotte, NC speaking right now
I guess the days of speaking off the cuff are gone for good.
He is sticking with the awkward reading from the Teleprompter, not quite sure what word might pop up next.

(47,399 posts)when he yelled at the audience with wild gestures, but Teleprompter Trump is painful to listen to. That unnaturally quiet tone and careful enunciation of every single word is maddening. Obviously, there are words on the teleprompter that he isn't used to saying out loud. It is like he is running for eighth grade class president.

Throw in "One hundred percent" or "That's true".

(47,399 posts)You know he has never used that word before. He has a few nouns, adverbs, and adjectives, then he puts very, very, very in front of them. "Believe me."

But he didn't elaborate. If he was smart he would have elaborated. HE would have made it his checkers speech.
Now his stupid fans are urging him to build the wall. So much to reaching out to all Americans.

(58,724 posts)He literally used to do an impersonation of his rallies that involved looking from one side to another not knowing the next word as his goof on Hillary, whom he accused of reading a short speech off a Teleprompter and then going home.
Tonight, he did exactly that.

(5,611 posts)seriously weird -- promoting Trump AGAIN? This speech sounds like his new hire Kelly Conway wrote it for him (filled with her dumb "inclusive" language and platitudes about safety that she thinks appeals to "the women" , and it sounds like yet another "re-introducing Trump" speech. He is promising to help women, "blacks," and "the gays."

(456 posts)she is going to be in trouble. This isn't a concern post. She is MIA in prime time too much. She needs to be out there like she wants the job. This let Trump have the air waves only works if he is making mistakes. If he is going to start reading these speeches folks are writing for him Hillary needs to be out there.

(20,135 posts)Also, Trump is absolutely godawful at scripted speeches. The only reason he ever got any traction was he had the racist vote, and the rest has been people paying attention to watch the trainwreck

(190 posts)1-At least he didn't have crib notes on his palm like other politicians that may be recalled to your memories. With the Alaskan, it resolved any doubts about her being goofy and an idiot. With Trump, they would be unthinkable.
2-It seems that a very interesting shift has occurred in how republicans view the presidency. When President Obama was in his first term, there was criticism ad nauseam concerning his reliance on teleprompters. He doesn't need them and he can read a teleprompter speech with precision. Now, it appears, reeking totally of desperation, that Trump's ability to badly read a speech from a teleprompter is the height of presidential competence. Oh the irony.

(524 posts)"I've always said, if you run for president, you shouldn't be allowed to use teleprompters," he said to applause during a rally back in October in Georgia. "Because you don't even know if the guy's smart."
"I don't use teleprompters," he said in January, criticizing Hillary Clinton for using one. "Wouldn't that be easy, teleprompters? I watched Hillary the other day and she has the biggest teleprompters I've ever seen. In fact, if you're sitting on that side of the room or that side of the room you can't see her because when they are outside, they are painted black and you can't even see her."
