Boehner: ‘Obamacare Is The Law Of The Land’ *** (UPDATE: He is walking it back already)

Boehner: ‘Obamacare Is The Law Of The Land’
As ABC News reports, House Speaker John Boehner has confirmed that the House GOP will no longer attempt to repeal Obamacare. When asked about the future of the health care reform law, Boehner said “the election changes that” and “Obamacare is the law of the land.” During President Obama’s first term, House Republicans spent over 80 hours and $50 million dollars on more than 30 failed attempts to repeal Obamacare.

Boehner spox clarifies re: Obamacare: "Speaker Boehner and House Republicans remain committed to repealing the law"

Speaker John Boehner @SpeakerBoehner

ObamaCare is law of the land, but it is raising costs & threatening jobs. Our goal has been, and will remain, #fullrepeal.

2. They're making Lemonade

So they can steal it again and bring us back to high debt like Bush did. Let the Dem's clean it up, then loot it when in office again.

7. Eric Cantor disagrees

Now that President Obama has secured reelection, his landmark health care reform law is here to stay. But that doesn’t stop Republican leaders in Congress from continuing their crusade against Obamacare, which they have already wasted over 80 hours and more than $50 million dollars trying to repeal.

House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) is already looking ahead to 2013 and the so-called “fiscal cliff,” when House Republicans will likely continue to resist any revenue increases in favor of deep cuts to the social programs that protect the most vulnerable Americans. And Cantor is making it clear that includes slashing funding for critical health care programs like Obamacare, Medicare, and Medicaid:

While it is unrealistic for us to expect the President to embrace our vision of Medicare reform or Obamacare repeal, it is equally unrealistic for the President to continue to insist that Obamacare is off the table, or that Medicare and Medicaid require nothing more than some additional provider cuts. We will measure entitlement savings on the basis of whether they are sustainable and whether they actually bend down the cost curve.

10. Bonehead is grasping the fact that he has just this term to create his own

LEGACY.

Just as Tip O'Neill, the consummate politician, could disagree without being disagreeable, and could enjoy a shot or two of booze with Saint Ronnie while cajoling him along and steering him slightly "less crazy" if not "less right," Bonehead realizes that he can be an obstructionist asshole on the wrong side of history, or he can go down in history as the "loyal opposition" who worked WITH this historic president.

He's starting to feel the weight of time and the sense of how history will regard him if he continues to conduct himself like a priggish asshole. Those teabaggers ARE crazy. They're like the "Contract (on/with, take your pick) America" nutjobs that came in under Newt and who were crushed or compromised in short order.

That's what his change of heart is all about.

11. Let the backpedaling begin

Who is he kidding? He's also very recently said something about being able to look at ways to increase tax revenue. He's just trying to disassociate the Rethugs from Romney.

12. Now that everyone can agree it is the law of the Land

Let's fix it!!!. We compromised all of the good stuff out!! There needs to be major reforms to the Hospitals, drug companies, doctors, and insurance companies. Reforms such as universal pricing, so doctors and hospitals can't gouge the American people. A cap on how much profit can be made by insurance companies(because no one should profit off of someone not getting the care they need). And tell the drug companies that we want the same deal as what the rest of the World is getting. We need to take control of this and now!!

16. After 30+ FUTILE GOP House votes to repeal ACA... He's gonna try some more.

That is the very definition today's Republican party.

Empty gestures and not giving a damn about the well-being of their constituents.
