Introducing Discussionist: A new forum by the creators of DU

History is defined by the winners...time for us to start doing some defining...

starting with Rove's role and the coordinated effort nationwide to suppress votes.

Defining history is our role and our responsibility. Abdicating it under the guise of "healing" is a fool's errand that may feel good short term but will not serve future generations. We cannot allow historians to look back at this time and forget the the depths we had reached as a result of the 2000-2008 years.

We need to ensure that when future generations ask "Why did it take Democrats so long to dig out of the '00s and why did they govern for another 12-16 years after that"...the answer will be a four letter word.

Bush.

1. One word covers a lot of territory about what Dems have had to learn, historically.

Utilitarianism. Doing the greatest good for the greatest number. It has fueled the wealth of the rich even in high tax years, and will continue to be the driving force behind the growth of both the Democratic Party and funding higher quality of life throughout the country.

They've tried the other guys' power playbook, but I believe that the Utilitarian Playbook is still the defining power of the Democratic Party.
