New Pennsylvania AG Wants To Investigate Gov. Corbett

Pennsylvania has a new attorney general elect, Kathleen Kane and that may be unsettling news for Gov. Tom Corbett.

Kane has promised to investigate Corbett’s handling of the Jerry Sandusky case when Corbett was attorney general.

And Wednesday Corbett once again defended his actions.

In ushering in Kane, voters stuck a thorn in Corbett’s side

1. I despise Corbett.

I wouldn't be surprised if that bastard was involved with the pedo ring himself. Harsh? Yeah. Deserved? Well....probably not. But he's never denied it!

Seriously though, everyone knew that Sandusky was a monster and no one did a damn thing about it. There was big power there, much bigger than most people would believe. And if this guy gets caught covering up in any way he'll be flayed alive,

2. We'll See

As I've said before, I think the repubs in general were hesitant to investigate anything close to Paterno because of the fund raising activities he had done over the years for the party. In hind sight it was wrong and now they know it. All one has to do is look at the Centre County results and see people are not happy with how this all shook out; all of the statewide races were about evenly split but Kane garnered a 15% difference over her republican opponent.

4. YEP, but people need to be realistic about her

The office has its limitations to begin with.

She was an assistant district attorney who now is the AG for the seventh largest state in the country.

There is more to the job than just dealing with the Sandusky situation. He is in jail for life now, and there is A LOT of other business she needs to take care of.

She is a really fresh face, with few connections and understanding in Harrisburg. The admin, house and senate are all republican controlled, and she IS going to face every possible obstruction to dealing with Corbett that can be had.

I don't expect her to do much about Corbett, frankly, and not get much done because the establishment won't allow it.

But, it does break up the good old boys network a bit, and that is a good thing.

The fact is, now that this election is over, the smoldering coals with Corbett are going to get air, and he is in a LOT of trouble for his reelect in two years. We have not had a one term governor in Pa in my 40+ years, but he is making a good run at that.

I know A LOT, and I mean A L O T of rock republican's who want to send him packing.

The key is who the Ds put up. If they can put up a good candidate, someone who is solid, then it can happen.

There is a reason he surpressed the Sandusky prosecution. Penn State is a VERY, VERY republican institution, and he knew if he was responsible for pulling the first card out from that house of cards and it collapsed he never would have gotten the republican nomination two and a half years ago.

Now, he faces the counter blowback for sitting on it.

Again, the key is the Ds finding a viable challenger.

5. Not now

it would be viewed very poorly if someone who was an assistant county DA won election as AG and turned around and ran for governor the next day. She got elected because of the Sandusky situation flat out. No way she even is close to winning minus that, and everyone knows it.

The reason she won was because people played politics with it by not prosecuting it. There would be MAJOR backlash for not doing what she was elected to do then running for governor based on it.

She simply needs to do her job, ALL OF IT, well. And, the Ds have to find someone who can step up and be a viable choice for governor.

Joe Sestak is a better option.

6. investigate pennsy gerrymandering, not sandusky

Kathleen Kane should investigate rampant gerrymandering under corbett, illegal accd'g to former PA gov Ed Rendell, which created firewalls of republican districts from previous middling districts, by shifting areas to 'new' districting.
I think that takes priority over sandusky triflings, who's to blame who to scapegoat monday morning q-backing.

I know A LOT, and I mean A L O T of rock republican's who want to send him packing.

.. yeah but CC, anecdotal comments mean diddly squat without evidence, like polling etc.. nothing personal.
