Martin O'Malley/Ted Strickland ticket for 2016!!!

Always nice to plan for the future. =D I knew of O'Malley a while ago and was very impressed when I saw him numerous times fighting for Obama. Ted Strickland is a middle class warrior.

Loved the coverage on DU last night, long time reader for 10+ years but haven't posted as much. My only surprise of the night is that Oregon didn't legalize marijuana which I fully support as a former police officer and still hope to become a federal law enforcement officer.

Also proud of my home state of Maine... Angus King and the first state to legalize gay marriage by popular vote. I can now marry my partner of 13 years in the state I love.

Very nice night last night, Obama who is the first President I voted for in 2008 wins re-election and Alan Grayson who I donated to won. I also donated to Wayne Powell and was proud of his effort.

2. That is what made me notice him more...

While there are other bigger Democrats whose names are being thrown out there for the 2016 election, I thought the way he was fighting he is planning on running.

I also really like Brian Schweitzer as well.

12. Joe's going to be too old.

Born in 1942, He'll be on 74 November 20, 2016. That would be the oldest president ever. Reagan was 68 on inauguration.

It's simply not realistic or neccessary.

We need the next generation from now on. Obama's going to be 55 when he LEAVES office.

15. I really really like him! Very effective communicator!!

But as far as 2016 goes, my vote goes to Joe in the primaries.

6. Uhhh, guys, did you not see the election last night? Nominating two white guys aint the way to go.

Especially one who just lost to John Fucking Kasich and another who gave a boring convention speech.

That's so pre-Obama.

It's Hillary or bust...

7. I like them both, but don't love the idea of a ticket with 2 white guys

Our party is so diverse, I think it would be a shame to have a ticket that lacks at least some element of diversity. I would like to see our 2016 include someone of color or a woman or someone with a disability or who is GLBT. Now that we broke one major barrier I want to break more.

9. Really

Like O Malley.

dude is a badass that tells it like it is.

would love to see him at the top of the ticket and a forceful hispanic who can bring in electoral votes at the VP level. not sure if Castro is ready for that though. if it is Castro, i can promise you that Texas is not ready to go blue yet so the problem with that kinda ticket is it doesn't secure too many EVs.

14. I like Castro a lot as well...

I wouldn't expect for Texas to go blue with Castro on a ticket but he could put Arizona into contention and make it interesting for the Republicans.

I don't use Facebook a whole lot but he is one of the few politicians I've liked on there.

13. Hillary and Kirsten Gillibrand

Funny, I was having a conversation with my son this evening about the election and I told him that he would probably be voting for a woman in the next presidential election when he will be old enough to vote for the first time. He asked me who. I said, maybe Hillary Clinton. His first response was, "Is she a good person?"

I had to think about it (I'm black and I haven't forgotten about the 2008 primaries). The first things that come to mind when I think of Hillary is that she is smart, capable, strong, and ambitious. I told him he would have to decide for himself whether or not she is a "good person" if she decides to run. I look forward to seeing her run, though, if she so chooses.

17. I don't think the President & VP can be from the same state

and, Hilary was senator from NY before she became Secretary of State.

16. White Guys!!!

It's probably a good idea for the Democrats NOT to have two white guys on the ticket. One is okay. Two? Not so much.

18. I think the nomination is Hilary's to lose

just my opinion - I wasn't a Clinton or Obama supporter in the 2008 primaries (or anybody else, for that matter)

Maybe the mayor of Los Angeles for VP? Or, the mayor of San Antonio that spoke at the DNC?

19. Not only not two white guys

It shouldn't be two non-Hispanic whites, period. Maybe someday. Maybe when electing minorites and women to the highest office in the land is routine, but until then the ticket needs to represent the coaltion that we've got to some extent.
