Potential SCotUS nominees?

Last edited Wed Nov 7, 2012, 06:07 PM - Edit history (2)

I would guess that at least Ruth Bader Ginsberg will step down in the next four years, possibly Breyer as well.

Anybody a leading candidate to replace them?

Would love to see Goodwin Liu, but if the GOP had a hissy fit over him as a federal judge, they'd go apeshit over him for the SCotUS.

I'm guessing that only death would lead Scalia, Thomas, Alito or Roberts to step down.

Since we are talking lifetime appointments, a younger candidate gives us more long-term shift in the make up of the court.

I'm pretty sure I had posted that I thought Sonia Sotomayor would be one of the top choices for SCotUS, and I'm sure it was because I had seen her name on a list. (Now, just to be fair, I got most of the rest of the cabinet picks wrong, other than Eric Holder)

I guess Kennedy retirement should bring wonders, otherwise we need to wait for President Hilary Clinton in 2016....

I know Scalia, for sure, will hang on out of spite if a Democrat is president.

And, Clarence Thomas has been on the court forever, it seems, but is only 64? Sheesh, he could have another 20-25 years on the court.
