2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumRemember this about the attacks - from all quarters - on Bernie.
Those attacks really aren't about him.
They are an expression of fear regarding his economic message.

(30,481 posts)I see tons of righteous attacks on the fools acting as if they are his supporters.
Many of us have a lot of respect for his economic message.
Projecting fear onto others isn't going to work for you.

(4,311 posts)Nobody else was booing him.

(6,716 posts)And there are many of them on MSM proclaiming that they are not Democrat and will be voting 3rd party. They should have their credentials stripped after roll call.

(20,709 posts)The attacks I've seen are on Bernie or Busters and Greens, and the only fear is fear of Trump.

(25,487 posts)We're attempting the braindead delegates of his (granted, only 10-20% of them) that thought it would be cool to heckle an American hero like Elijah Cummings, or a voice of progressivism like Elizabeth Warren.
The ones that go on national TV, at a DEMOCRATIC convention announcing that they're voting for Jill Stein.

(16,104 posts)which would propel any damn Republican nominee including Trump to the presidency!
So you are quite correct.

(4,532 posts)Sorry. But that attitude is exactly why real change is so rare in this country.
yallerdawg
(16,104 posts)But, you know? It's OK.
The OP said "fear" was the basis of rejecting Sanders' economic message. I concur.
At this time in our history, our country is leaning at the very least centrist right, and has been drifting even more right since we elected Obama in 2008.
My opinion is that a pragmatic, incremental positioning will move us to the left without stirring up the rightwing rabid conservative hornet's nest nominating a self-described democratic socialist would have.
I am afraid nominating Sanders at this time would guarantee a Republican presidency.
I believe nominating Hillary gives us a chance to win!
Bernie is where we want to go. Hillary is how we get there.
We are on the same team.

(58,785 posts)Bernie's official positions are all mainstream liberal, and if it weren't for conservative voters all the younger people on this forum would have grown up with them as realities of their world.
But happily for our chances, only the centrist right is leaning centrist right, the mainstream left is leaning left, and the far left is leaning far left.
Unfortunately, the rest of the right is leaning far right and will do everything they can to stop us. But hey, the wheel's been turning our way for a while now.

(146,254 posts)I've only seen posts praising him for helping to calm this convention down and get on with making history.
There has been some criticism of delegates committed to him at the convention, but that is criticism of those delegates, not Bernie. He has been very forthright in his support for the Democratic nominee during the convention.
So, if you have some example of attacks on Bernie Sanders, himself, please link to those attacks.

(50,911 posts)Because he didn't lead the booing trump trolls in a march around the convention hall while wearing a bandmaster's costume.
I'm so glad those assholes are gone from here.

(58,724 posts)There have been attacks on Hillary from supporters of Bernie.
But there haven't been any actual attacks on Bernie.
DemonGoddess
(4,640 posts)Hell, we're all celebrating what he's doing at the convention. What everyone is objecting to are the assholes, such as the one stating AT THE CONVENTION that they're going to vote anything other than Democrat. They have no business at the party's convention.

(1,945 posts)His economic policies are one portion. It's also he has uncompromised beliefs for over 30 to 40 years. It's intimidating to people who believe you can never get what you want so just give up.

(2,542 posts)And she's just one example. Clinton's voters got their candidate the nomination, so spare us your claims that we're the ones who "give up" when you've got Sarandon on your team.
