four more years of sane guidance for America, by the greatest President of my life-time.

Couldn't shout, though -- spouse asleep nearby. I'll let her wake up to a gorgeous new four years in the morning. Oh -- and then I went and got a beer.

Danced around! Hollered to husband who whooped, too! Started texting son, daughter, friends, AND a young gent who's helping the band, a friend from another local band, who changed his mind today and actually voted! He told me last week he wasn't going to. He called me today to say he'd had a change of heart! AND he voted for Obama!!! I GOT us one!

25. Opened the champagne, sent an email to all my Dem family and friends,

and then went outside and took my Obama 2012 sign and placed it right next to my Thanksgiving
decoration that says 'GIVE THANKS.' I live in repuke-ville, and there are so many Rmoney signs around here,
I have to wear my Obama baseball cap when I drive up or down the street. It works as the FORCE,
repelling the stupid. They are all gonna be SO pissed off when they see my 'Give Thanks' sign next to my Obama sign. LOL.

YEAH! We won! America won!

26. I had fallen asleep on the sofa (long work day) but awoke about an hour ago...

to put the dogs to bed, brush my teeth and crawl in. I had actually just had a nightmare that Romney had won before I woke up. I was a bit groggy but focused my eyes on the television screen to see the great news of the night!!!

BO - 4 more years
Senate - in Democratic control with possibility of a better majority than before (still not filibuster proof unless Reid changes the Senate rules for this archaic parliamentary procedure)
House - What can I say? I haven't seen the total loss/gain numbers but we are still running a huge deficit there and Boehner just announced he won't work with the President to avoid economic collapse by agreeing to ANY tax increases period. Didn't he get the message tonight that our elections cannot be bought by his corporate masters?
Marriage equality - contrary to the bible thumpers who said that marriage equality could ONLY happen by judicial proclamation because every time this was put up to a vote the people overwhelmingly rejected it - we have all 3 states with this on the ballot coming out for equality - a big shout out to the LGBT communities in Maine, Maryland and Washington
First openly gay Senator elected from Wisconsin
Scott Brown defeated in favor of someone who cares about people

Played CD of Carmen Dragon's version of America the Beautiful.
Played along on my violin.

Knew it b/c I played it at music camp at Kansas University with Carmen Dragon conducting. It's a beautiful arrangement that they used to play when the TV stations signed off. Also played Battle Hymn of the Republic and Stars and Stripes forever.

Which at least in the bar I was in, with three separate channels, was actually true by a few seconds. No idea if others I was not watching called it earlier.

51. I was in the damn shower

I had coached my son's hockey practice then played in a game of my own and came home. The wife ran me off to get washed because I was stinking.

So I come back down and she says, "you knucklehead they just called Ohio for Obama, he won". I was like, "well you told me I stunk."

It was sorta anti-climatic to be honest, plus I felt good about the President's chances. We didn't even drink.

She had NEVER EVER voted until 2008 and voted for BO...she was threatening to sit it out this time although she liked Obama and thought he was a good man. But in the end, she voted...good night.

All that nervous energy was relieved at once when Ohio was called.

Obama, Warren, Grayson - it was a great night! The only minor negative is that Gerlach won again - maybe next time we can finally get him out of the House.

60. I felt my belief that not everybody was fooled by GOP bullshit was vindicated. .... and a more than

a little relieved (knowing the power of demogoguery, and confidence games over the uncritically minded).

Confidence games, to work. They depend upon people being selfish and suscpicious that others are out to 'get' (i.e. take away) something from them. They also depend upon a certain proportion of population being quite happy to try to 'get something for nothing' ... that is, take advantage of a situation. Since many people are like this, confidence games and demagoguery work quite reliably. Not with everybody ..... but with a portion of the population, reliably.
