I like Kaine, but DAMMIT we need a Democratic controlled senate come 1/20/17

My understanding is Gov McAuliffe could appoint himself to the senate seat, but at some point in 2017, there would be a special election (Kaine wouldn't have had to run til 2018)....Now we know that some Democrats tend to take a time out during non presidential election years...And remember the other senator, Mark Warner who won his race by over 30% in 2008, squeaked by in 2014 winning by about 2.5%....

The Merrick Garland Supreme Court situation is proof enough on how significant control of the senate is.....

1. Bobby Scott will probably get the nod from McAuliffe...

and would have a better chance than most to keep the seat in the special election.

3. the last time the GOP has won statewide in VA was in 2009.

I don't think we will lose that seat.
