There used to be attempts at sincere journalism over the last 50 years. The media used to be proud at their ability to use their constitutional rights to be fair in their reporting. Since, Reagan, however, they don't really try anymore. I just ordered the film about that from Netflix, but I agree with you that Dan Rather was ramrodded. They should have just reported the document discrepancy and moved on, but they made it look like Rather was the perp instead of shrub and his evil VP.
