I'm not a lawyer and don't pretend to know about such things, so don't have an opinion on which way this will go.
Will be interesting to watch it play out though. If won, will be one hella class action law suit.

One of the more amusing claims is the claim that DC deceptive trade practices act applies because the plaintiffs are consumers. That statute cited defines consumers as follows:

2) “consumer” means a person who does or would purchase, lease (from), or receive consumer goods or services, including a co-obligor or surety, or a person who does or would provide the economic demand for a trade practice; as an adjective, “consumer” describes anything, without exception, which is primarily for personal, household, or family use;

This definition of consumer does not fit someone who contributes to a political campaign
This is a really dumb lawsuit that made me smile
