Related: About this forumUnserious Trolls Claim They're Bernie Voters
I'm not buying it. These interviews suggest to me that these folks aren't liberal, nor are they real Bernie supporters. The real Bernie supporters I know have all said they will support Clinton in the general, and vote Bernie in the primary.
That's how it's supposed to be, just as it would be of Clinton voters who would vote Bernie in the general if he had the nomination. But anyone delusional enough to imagine voting in a fascist to see the "excitement" of living under a "Nazi-type change" should immediately report to the Secretary of State and withdraw their voting rights voluntarily.

(65,269 posts)Although I would prefer that it be Bernie, I will absolutely support Hillary if, as is likely, she is our nominee.
Anything else would be like going into the parts of old time maps labeled "Here be monsters." I prefer Bernie, because I am an FDR Democrat, but like most Bernie supporters, I don't hate Hillary. I just don't think she is as strong a candidate, and I worry about her unforced errors.

(28,627 posts)Voters who are independents, Green, Libs, Socialists switched to Bernie - some of them are even Republicans. These people probably won't vote for Hillary. Bernie brought in people who had never voted before. Real Bernie supporters are from across the political spectrum. Hillary appeals to a narrow cohort mainly older Democrats. I hear that many Democrats are getting nervous about her.

(6,342 posts)The Democrats are going to get that vote no matter what happens.
The bigger problem is the white, middle/working class. Trump's populism is going to resonate with many of them. And Hillary has serious issues concerning trade and close associations to Wall Street.
The youth are also a problem. Millennials are not loyal voters and typically unreliable. If they are not actually motivated to vote FOR a person, they tend to not vote. They don't look at elections as being the "lesser of two evils." If Hillary doesn't motivate them, they won't turn out.

What I hope is that after our convention, that there will be some cooling off and the Sanders people will see the wisdom in not letting Trump get anywhere near the White House. I'm sure Sanders and Obama and Warren will all be helping to make sure that does not happen.

It's been scare tacits from the beginning about Trump vs Hillary, long before Bernie was as popular as he is now.
I have and has always been a "serious" Bernie supporter and I will never vote for Hillary R. Clinton.
Trump is obviously full of bullshit, it's plain and simple to see and none of the "Nazi, Facist" scare tacits will work on anyone paying attention.
Clinton has shown for fact what she is capable of and I am more afraid of her than anything a egotistical blowhard reality tv show star spew forth for attention.
Lesser of two evils = Evil.
I won't vote for either in November.
Hillary supporters "get what they get" and fully deserve.

(27,787 posts)I have wonder why you think that a Trump presidency would only hurt Hillary supporters.
Clearly it would hurt most Americans ... including poor people (regardless of party), probably more than anyone else.
And why would it not hurt fine upstanding liberals like yourself who clearly love and care for all people?
imari362

(8,976 posts)No true Scotsman is an informal fallacy, an ad hoc attempt to retain an unreasoned assertion.[1] When faced with a counterexample to a universal claim ("no Scotsman would do such a thing" , rather than denying the counterexample or rejecting the original claim, this fallacy modifies the subject of the assertion to exclude the specific case or others like it by rhetoric, without reference to any specific objective rule ("no true Scotsman would do such a thing"; i.e., those who perform that action are not part of our group and thus criticism of that action is not criticism of the group).[2]

(11,243 posts)Mostly young white men, they are not liberal or even politically aware. Are they "real" Sanders supporters? A few did not even bother to vote in the primary. The rest definitely like Bernie, but not for his policies. They think he has swag or something.
They are swing voters. Reagan Democrats. The guy who voted for GWB twice and then turned around and went with Obama the next time. They vote based on how a candidate makes them feel, not what they actually accomplish, and right now they seem to feel aggrieved. Sanders seems to be channeling that feeling. So is Trump. It doesn't surprise me at all that a segment of voters likes them both.

(744 posts)I don't think we actually know what he believes. My husband came in the other day and said, "I saw this video and Trump is like Hitler." I said I don't think so. Hitler was as much a believer in his hateful ideas as anyone in his audiences. Trump is a car salesman that will tell you anything you want to hear if you'll put down your credit card. So who the hell knows what he'll actually do. What we do know, however, is that he's clearly a narcissistic and impulsive asshole that wants everything his way now. I can't even imagine having that kind of a loose cannon in the White House.

(5,350 posts)Of course you do; I expected no other response. That's not how PMs work, though--the recipient can share them with whomever they choose, hence posting a screencap of the PM that person shared with DU.
barrow-wight
(744 posts)And clearly the site admins don't mind that. I guess it must be great for ad views and revenue, right? It's right out of a reunion of the Real Housewives shows. It's really disappointing that this is allowed.
Rob H.
(5,350 posts)Edit: Oops, better luck next time.
barrow-wight
(744 posts)The only reason the post withstood an alert is because the one voter that tipped the scales said that the PM was to you and it wasn't to you.

(744 posts)You've got a serious axe to grind. I always wonder about people that. They often think their actions exist in a vacuum of impunity.
They don't.
Rob H.
(5,350 posts)I made it clear in my response that it wasn't sent to me. The person to whom the PM was sent shared it with DU, and I shared it here. If you have a problem with it being shared, take it up with them, not me.
Reading works:
Edit: And again, that's not how PMs work; if someone sends another person a PM and that person decides to make it public, well, the sender is just flat out of luck because that isn't against the rules, nor is it against the rules for anyone else to share it after that, either.
barrow-wight
(744 posts)I'm proud that I was.
Moreover, you did not state that the PM wasn't sent to you so the juror in question had no benefit of this and stated that he or she was leaving it because it was To the poster I.e you.
You continue to have your axe to grind. You've got none more days to get all your ya yas out before the very Hillary supporting admin of this site closes the door on your vitriol.

Oh wait. Never mind. No chance for a long game. Only nine days. Tik Tok Tik Tok Tik Tok.
At the end of all of these indignant and abusive outbursts of yours, my candidate will have won and yours will have lost. I realize that means you have nothing to lose, but you also have nothing to gain.

Note to Potential Jurors: Posting the writings or links to the writings of DUers appearing other places on the Web is not a violation of either the Terms of Service or the Community Standards of DU. It happens here fairly frequently -- essays by William Rivers Pitt on Truthout; writings by Steven Leser from 2008 which are on a very long thread here; posts which DUers or ex-DUers have posted on other sites; even earlier DU posts from DUers, such as comments during the 2008 election campaign, etc.
barrow-wight
(744 posts)I disagree with her comments on the site entirely and, from what I can see after researching it, she apologized profusely for it and realizes she let her anger get the better of her and reached for the first incendiary log for the fire. But then you already know that. You're just hoping to bully her into silence but thankfully she doesn't seem to be bullied easily.
Rob H.
(5,350 posts)By all means, I think people should feel free to share their opinions and views. Realize, though, that just because an apology is offered doesn't mean it has to be accepted, which is contrary to what some posters here seem to believe. Apologies aren't magic; they don't work that way.

Normally, I'd be delighted to watch you continue to shoot yourself the foot until you're wobbling around on a bloody stump, but like I said this is boring me now. Off to Ignore you go. Pro tip: next time you decide to step up, bring your "A" game, 'cause this wasn't it.
And you think you're some master of spin because you can twist my words and pretend that anyone actually cares about this conversation? You're the only one in it other than me. I get it. You like to see who can throw the biggest insult, but the biggest insult is coming whether I say anything or not. I don't need to bring any sort of game because your candidate has lost and he has embarrassed and humiliated himself in front of the whole world.
