If I were a NYer impacted by Sandy, I'd be mad at Mayor Bloomberg, too.

First, I'd be mad at him for publicly turning down aid from FEMA before the storm. Besides depriving NYC of needed help in the immediate aftermath, this must have given many NYers a false sense of security, especially since Hurricane Irene -- which also led to evacuations -- turned out not to be a big deal.

Second, I'd be mad at him for turning down Obama's offer to come tour the city. I'd have wanted Obama to see first hand what the city was going through, just as he was able to with NJ.

Third, I'd be mad at him for spending scarce resources to run the NYC marathon through Staten Island, in the midst of all its suffering.

IMHO, New Yorkers have plenty of reason to be angry with their Mayor right now.

The President is a very busy man and New Jersey is generally speaking worse off than NYC, save for maybe parts of Staten Island and Far Rockaway.

And man the Marathon thing is though but ultimately it brings in revenue which the city always needs and especially needs right now.

They don't need the income that badly nor do the rich business owners that profited from it.

I hope that he makes it clear to anyone in Staten Island who is upset right now that he TURNED DOWN a visit from Obama.

Bloomberg has a punitive attitude toward people who didn't or couldn't evacuate. He feels like anything they are going through is their own fault. Disgusting attitude.
