I'm leaning towards Ron Paul

....in the Alabama repig primary as my contribution to Operation Hilarity. Grinch Grinch is here in town today, but I think the masses of wingers in Alabama and Mississippi are going for Santorum. I'm going for the maximum chaos and would appreciate any feeedback.

1. If I were in an open primary state I would absolutely vote for Uncle Kooky.

3. Maximum chaos would be Santorum

Paul other than being Romney's wingman is irrevelant to the process. Strengthening Santorum is the best move. I wonder who Santorum plans to attack this time (JFK before the Michigan primary - he must have been out of his mind).

5. I agree, Santorum over Uncle Kooky.

There are enough Rugged Individualist He-Man Libertarian Gubbamint Haters and not enough Papist Boot-Lickers in Alabammy.

And as far as your "Strengthening Santorum is the best move", I am now going to go hurl.

7. I at least had the option to vote for "Uncommitted" in our primary

Thus I could vote for some Repug without voting for anyone on the clown car--and help create a little more chaos further down the road.

8. Voting for Gingrich might encourage him to stay in

and make it harder for Santorum and Romney both to get the delegates/votes they need. I'd have to REEEALLLY hold my nose to do it, but--anything for the cause!

9. A candidate has to get 20% to get any delegates in Alabama

and that looks unlikely for Paul.

Poll a month ago, saying 3 way contest between the other 3: http://blog.al.com/sweethome/2012/02/new_alabama_poll_shows_close_t.html

Alabama rules: http://www.thegreenpapers.com/P12/AL-R#0313

I'd suggest, if you just want to cause chaos, Santorum or Gingrich; if you think either will get close to the number of votes that Rmoney gets, either in your district or the whole state, then that's the one to vote for, in the hope it moves him back to 2nd or 3rd.

10. I suggest you leave well enough alone.

Romney is the perfect candidate for GE.
