Florida Dem Chair is calling on Rick Scott to extend voting hours

Following news reports of long lines and record turnout at early voting locations across the state, Florida Democratic Party Chairman Rod Smith today echoed former Senator and Florida House Democratic Leader Dan Gelber in calling on Gov. Rick Scott to extend early voting hours statewide through Sunday

Will Rick Scott put Florida above his own partisan interest? Let's hope pressure builds for him to do the right thing. Extend early voting through Sunday.

This is exactly what the cons wanted, so they could discourage voters from voting. JRLeft Nov 2012 #1

you'd get for absentee voting and let people fill them out in line and then deposit them inside? Anyone know?

Perhaps contact the FL dem party at https://twitter.com/FlaDems and make suggestions to help alleviate the lines. I just wrote and suggested absentee ballots be handed out to the lines. Let us know if you have ideas. It wouldn't hurt to send them and maybe that will help.

They have to check a person is a registered voter and mark them off when they voted.
How is distributing paper ballots outside going to work?

If they didn't cut Sunday, I would vote the day I came back.

Scott will not do this because they KNOW it's Dems who are voting early.

You would have to understand the amount of corruptness that the GOP has committed here in Florida toknow that there is no chance that he extends the hours. This was their whole game plan to disenfranchise low and middle income voters by eliminating hours and days of early vote. Your asking a crook like Scott that stole 81 million from Medicare to do the right thing....NO CHANCE.......Until the DEMS can put forth a viable candidate down here in Florida the Repubs will continue to hold htis state hostage

that Rick Scott ever won the election in the 1st place.....sort of reminds me of this years Presidential election, as Alex Sink was a much better candidate than Scott, just as Obama is so much better than Romney.

Governors, Attorneys General & Secretaries of State should NOT be allowed to have anything to do with elections, ballots or voting machines.

The fact that partisan political individuals have control over elections makes the American electoral system little better than that found in a 3rd-world country.

Elections should be run by an independent government agency on behalf of the public, the way they are in other Western countries.

Here is my suggestion. Dems who did not get a chance to vote should form a line very early on Nov 6th. Let the Repugs arrive in the morning only to find long lines that formed at 4 am - 5 am and leave.

That is our problem and we have to find a way to end this off-year stay at home attitude. We stayed at home because we were not completely satisfied. Now, we fight a battle. Will we learn? Same happened in 1994.

Well, first things first, get Obama in on Nov 6th.
