A failed philosophy of eschewing real progress for a "practical" one step forward, two steps back approach to maintaining the status quo (from the whatchamacallit dictionary).

"Democracy requires compromise, even when you are 100% right. This is hard to explain sometimes. You can be completely right and you still have to engage folks who disagree with you. If you think that the only way forward is to be as uncompromising as possible, you will feel good about yourself, you will enjoy a certain moral security, but you will not get what you want." - President Barack Obama

it's probably not a compromise; it's probably 100% global corporatist takeover of our country (and many others).

Today I think, some think change not progress. Or progress in negative terms as a business interest. Others use it as an indentification, even if it doesn't fit.

to make progress, improvement, reform happen.

Progressive churches don't wait for the next world; they work on this one.

Progressive governments tackle problems too large for private enterprise or individuals to fix.

Progressivism is HUGE; it is found at all levels of society and was at one time very much alive to varying degrees in almost all its political ideologies. That's why the very wealthy anti-regulation and anti-tax advocates have invested billions over 30 years trying to convince Americans that "big" government is bad. "Big" oppressive government is how its enemies redefined "progressive" government in order to bring it down.
