(37,428 posts)Ultimately, that wealth comes from the labor of the masses who would never be allowed into any of those compounds.
The concentration of capital in the hands of the few is perhaps our biggest problem and obstacle to solving all our other problems. No matter how well-intentioned some of our jillionaires may be, that level of wealth isolates one from the rest of us. That's unfortunate.
"They're just jealous" s a Fox News talking point that we should be embarrassed to be caught aping.

(16,631 posts)why belittle and mock the incredibly important issue of economic inequality?

(16,631 posts)individuals internalize; it keeps the elite in power through ideological hegemony; you don't need to put a gun to anyone's head to get them to consent, just disperse the myths that people buy into and they will then identify with the elite and support the elite, thinking that they, too, can attain these materialistic goals

(13,386 posts)The OP seems to be condemning the life the Clintons are living now instead of comparing it to the lives they led decades ago when they most certainly were not part of the elite. That journey for them during the past 40 years is a good example of the idealistic American Dream many Americans want to achieve. Like it or not but there are people out there who respect them for rising up from practically nothing to obtain the lives they have today.

(11,330 posts)Just because you are so concerned about democratic leaders wealth
Part of FDR wealth was banking and insurance generated...I guess that means he was hopelessly tainted.
Part of JRK wealth was banking and stock trading....another hopelessly tainted individual

(30,058 posts)books, get them published and gather the royalty then we may get some of the wealth. Jealous, seems like some are, am I, no it is good to see two people gain wealth on their own without inheriting from their parents. Look at Warren Buffett, he is another example of some one who has invested in companies listed on Wall Street and has amassed a nice net worth, now tell me what is wrong with Wall Street?

Anger that so few have so much while so many have so little...And often the few have so much because they are robbing it from the many.
