(1,828 posts)So glad he stayed with Obama! It was huge in 2008 when he endorsed him, and it would have been really tough media coverage if he flipped back to gop!

(109 posts)This has been telegraphed. Chuck todd is trying to say it doesn't matter blah blah. But guess what Chuckie? It is still going to get today's press --positive press for the President and not for Romney!and it underscores that Mittens is not ready for foreign policy!~!!

(12,471 posts)Is just that, a toadie. He's become nothing more than a shill for the RepubLIEcans.
This will be big. Just as it was in 2008.
Even though I believe Powell belongs in jail with the rest of the Bush Crime Family, I believe that he got fed up, once he found out what was really going on. I think he was being played by the Bush administration, but once he found out that it was a big steaming pile, he wanted to jump ship, but he has more honor, and decided to stick it out.

(25,415 posts)This is an endorsement that means something as it comes from the other side. I have had my disagreements with Powell in the past but the fact that he stuck with Obama twice raises him a bit in my eyes.

(7,960 posts)The general gave a very nice endorsement and outlined in a crisp, no-nonsense manner why he is not endorsing Romney.

(22,651 posts)This might be the final nail since the latest coordinated Rethug attacks on the President relate to foreign policy.. ie Libya. Those will sound even more hollow now.

(3,003 posts)...It's a shame you had to learn the hard way that Republicans are NOT the party to support.

(1,941 posts)Highlight Comments from Gen. Colin Powell:
"And so I think we ought to keep on the track that we are on," the Republican, who also backed Obama in 2008, told "CBS This Morning."
"I'm not quite sure which Governor Romney we'd be getting with respect to foreign policy," Powell said, calling Romney's foreign policy "a moving target."
As for the U.S. budget, he added: "It's essentially let's cut taxes and compensate for that with other things, but that compensation does not cover all the cuts intended or the expenses associated with defense."

(1,385 posts)Powell said he speaks w Prez often. Waiting til after the foreign policy debate gave his criticism of Rmoney more weight. Loved that he referred to moderate reps as dying breed and that He threw responsibility back to congress where it belongs.

(1,828 posts)Voters need to be reminded why President Obama had such a difficult time getting more done. Imagine what he could do with a Congress that didn't just say no to everything.
