Obama tweet:
Obama: “Trust matters. One thing I think you've seen over the past 4 years is that I mean what I say. I do what I say I’m going to do.”

2. Interesting use of Twitter
|
Both Obama and Biden (their staffs most likely) have been tweeting the main lines from their universal stump speech. I can't hurt, and people that do twitter, by definition, have a real aversion to depth. So netting out the key points might be what works for this crowd.

19. Your generalization is not supported by facts.
|
Twitter is a means by which to share links to information of any length or depth, and is used by people of all depths, but especially people who write and create art. Novelists use Twitter, as do journalists, musicians, policy wonks, scientists, software developers, issue advocates, bloggers, etc.

21. The FACT is that the "communication" in each case was one sentence.
|
That it is not my definition of depth. But there are a lot of people who operate at that level, so I am glad the campaign is communicating on that level to this audience.
I am also glad that they found a way to actually use real words (rather than acronyms), spelled correctly and even included some punctuation. That's a nice touch. But I'm over my quota of characters, so bye. |

On Leno, he was funny. At press conferences, when he speaks about serious events, he's serious. On twitter, he's brief.
In each venue, he's on topic, he's charismatic, he's himself. The Obama-Biden Truth Team are practically vicious in their messages. What exactly is your problem? |

7. I trusted Obama
|
I was diagnosed with crohn's disease shortly after coming off my parents health insurance. Hows that for timing. Immediately the insurance quotes tripled and I was stuck and still am stuck right now until Obamacare comes fully into being. I suffer daily because I can't get adequate treatment or tests done because it's too expensive. Charities have been of little to no help and the hospital cannot give me the care or treatment I need to keep inflammation down. I'm down to having to live with and borrowing money from my parents to buy meds from Canada. It still isn't enough.
Obama promised health care reform and HE DELIVERED. He kept his word. When it was very politically dangerous he kept his word to me and millions of others. He tried his hardest and he did what he said he was going to do. He could have ignored people like me and focused on jobs jobs jobs and the economy. He wasn't going to let health care slide away another four years. He did both. I have a message for Mitt Romney. I CANT FUCKING LOOK FOR WORK AND BE A PART OF THE 53% IF IM IN PAIN ALL DAY BECAUSE I CAN'T GET TREATMENT BECAUSE I HAVE NO INSURANCE and BTW no shit food stamp use is up after Republicans wrecked the economy. Trust matters. I trust Obama, he was there for me and even though I'm just one man in this election, I am there and will be there for him here in VA this election. |

If Obama loses, I imagine I will probably be crying for a week. I can't get over the things, the vicious things that are said about this good man. I can't get over the fact that tonight I saw 20 corporate attack ads here against Obama vs maybe 8 pro Obama ads.
These people are so cold and selfish. They'd put a suffering cancer patient using MMJ in jail if they could. Very nasty people. |

It's info for people who are waiting for Obamacare to kick in, about how there may be provisions active NOW to help you.
The Pre-existing Condition Plan is available now... http://www.democraticunderground.com/10021541212 It was in reply to someone who wrote a post very similar to yours. I hope it applies to you too. Check it out. |

Last edited Thu Oct 25, 2012, 02:54 AM USA/ET - Edit history (2) Why weren't mailers sent out about this?
I did a google search and VA where I live does have this ... http://www.pciplan.com/forms/pdfs/2012BenefitsSummary.pdf I am confused by deductibles since I'm in my mid 20's and have little experience with insurance lingo...does 1500$ deductible mean what I have to pay before insurance pays? and the 20%, 40% is how much I have to pay from the total cost like for colonoscopies? The prescription drug costs from this would be great, especially for those that I need that aren't generic, are specialty, and aren't less expensive in Canada. This could help me out A LOT but I am still worried I will go deeply into debt. I have been waiting for the medicaid expansion to kick in but even that is dependent on Obama being re-elected and my state enacting it. If they don't, I may have to move elsewhere. How I will do that, I do not know. I'm trying hard not to burden my parents, they have worked many many years to save up for retirement. If I could get better and get a job I wouldn't have to worry about that, I'd be able to pay for the PCIP as it looks like something that could REALLY REALLY benefit me. Thank you SO MUCH for showing me this, I really appreciate it. *Edit: My budesonide medicine would be 4$ for the first two fills, currently it is 1000$ for a month supply even being generic. I currently am getting it from Canada for about 50$ for a month supply. I'm not sure what it means by Greater of 4$ or 50% for the third refill and after. |

27. Also, ask hospitals and other providers to give you "hardship case" consideration
|
because you have no way to pay. Most people don't know that they can ask for this -- I only know because my late husband was disabled for many years. It usually needs the approval of some sort of board, and not everybody on staff will know about it, so insist on getting an answer (maybe ask in writing).
Also, do not let your parents or anyone else sign admission forms for you, and always write on them that you are indigent and cannot afford any contribution yourself above the part paid by government or insurance. Always sign admission forms yourself, and with no one else on them. That way, those close to you are protected. One more thing... if a hospital takes federal funds they MUST treat you. If they refuse, get the refusal in writing and call legal aid and your government representatives (they really do help). Good luck! Ask lots of questions of people and you will get answers eventually. Don't forget to speak to local charities -- that's what they are there for. |

30. GREAT NEWS TODAY
|
Is there a guardian angel here? After more than 2 months waiting to be approved for financial assistance to see a specialist at VCU in Richmond, I have BEEN APPROVED for 100%!!!!!!!!!!!! Just received a call today.
Now I just need to get an appointment in there. This couldn't come at a better time because I am dangerously low in weight having lost 30 lbs the last 2 months down to 125lbs at 6'1 with my heartrate in the mid to upper 90s. I am close to needing a feeding tube and risking osteoperosis by taking powerful steroids (I have been told not to because I have necrotizing hip tissue). Now I can get the tests I need and hopefully the shots I need to be able to eat again and live pain free again. This is so odd that it happened the day after I posted here. Thank you for your help. The hospital actually has been good to me, they have covered everything they could. In that sense, I am lucky, I know others do not get that luxury from their hospitals. The only problem was, they really couldn't do much to tackle my disease nor could my GI doctor. This really highlights the necessity of insurance though...others don't have 3 months to wait. Obamacare saves lives. |

I know Crohn's is a tough disease to deal with because my late husband's closest friend had it. Keep hope and keep looking for answers and better answers. I'm glad that you're beginning to find some help though, it's really scarey to have something so serious and nowhere to turn. Don't give up, hang in there.

While O and others were fighting to get this thing done, my daughter applied for and was denied health insurance coverage by at least 3 or 4 major health insurance companies(I posted about it). The one company that said they would cover her, had a rate so high that there was no way she'd be able to purchase it.
A DUer argued that once OC passed and the laws started taking effect, things would change. Fast forward to couple weeks or so ago. I read this post(same link you provided): http://www.democraticunderground.com/10021541212. I sent her a link to the post and then a link to the .gov page directly: https://www.pcip.gov/PCIP_States.html You know what? She qualifies for the coverage!!!.........hopefully in the coming months, she'll be set and she won't be going broke from the payments or worried about how to pay for medical care. So - wasn't exactly jumping up and down with joy because it wasn't Single Payer or Universal Healthcare BUT for many people, it is a lifeline to medical care and I have so much hope that Obamacare will become something much bigger and better for all of us! |

34. So cool about your daughter qualifying, nc4bo!
|
I know about going broke from medical bills. (My late husband was 100% disabled for 25 years, with a syndrome of diseases that had not been known to medicine before -- Agent Orange poisoning. So it was constant experimentation with him for all that time. Even with having most bills paid for via VA, often some medications were not, and that in itself took 1/3 of our income for nearly a decade.) Last year I finally lost a four-year battle to save my home, due to medical bills before he died. (No life insurance, a long story but aren't they all?)
I too wish we had single payer, but I'm very glad that this program is active now. And God bless the DUer who wrote that post, because I hadn't heard either about it being active, until seeing that. Very glad for your daughter, and so many in the same boat! I hope she'll not only get the care she needs, but also be able to build some financial stability for herself. As VEEP said, it's a big effing deal!!! |

The fact that candidate Romney could so easily Lie to the American People in their faces,
and the Corporate Media have barely anything to say about it is truly Odious! That's why it is closer than it should be. Because the Free Press is a bought Press, and it is obvious they don't give a shit about this country's future......and still don't want to admit that they cost us trillions of dollars by supporting Bush's wars! They are truly treasonous! |
