Meet Hillary's foreign policy advisor. Michele Flournoy

She is CEO of a liberal hawkish think tank Center for a New American Security (CNAS), a “liberal-hawk” think tank that she cofounded with Kurt Campbell in 2007. CNAS is widely viewed as having had significant influence on the Obama administration’s defense policies, particularly with respect to counterinsurgency warfare.

Foreign policy hawks have frequently commented on Flournoy’s militarist tendencies. For instance, in a September 2009 commentary on U.S. policy in Afghanistan, Tom Donnelly of the American Enterprise Institute wrote, “Undersecretary of defense Michele Flournoy is the dictionary definition of a hawkish Democrat"

If Hillary gets elected, this is most likely the person she will be listening to re: global affairs.

There seems to be a popular use of of the "conservative-liberal" dichotomy, the "liberal" part being what we call 3rd way.
those terms are pretty fluid, as we have found out.
