Is Romney Winning or Bluffing?

Is Romney Winning or Bluffing?
Jonathan Chait: "In recent days, the vibe emanating from Mitt Romney's campaign has grown downright giddy. Despite a lack of any evident positive momentum over the last week -- indeed, in the face of a slight decline from its post-Denver high -- the Romney camp is suddenly bursting with talk that it will not only win but win handily. ('We're going to win,' said one of the former Massachusetts governor's closest advisers. 'Seriously, 305 electoral votes.'"

"This is a bluff. Romney is carefully attempting to project an atmosphere of momentum, in the hopes of winning positive media coverage and, thus, creating a self-fulfilling prophecy."

of the knowledge they have about vote-rigging? or maybe they're just giddy that it's close, that it won't be an embarrassing landslide loss for them. I've always said that we need to win this thing in a big way, for the house and senate, and as a buffer against vote theft. Maybe it's not too late for us to pull ahead but it's getting late. Is EVERYONE signed up and committed to GOTV?

but I can't imagine they feel THAT confident- nor does that jibe with any reality that I'm a part of. A lot of Republicans surely thought that, after 2010 midterms, that 2012 would mark their triumphant return. So far, the polls and other factors do not seem to indicate that this is likely. Their chances for the Senate seem shot, President Obama has several paths to 270 (Romney has to run the tables and I don't think it's likely to happen), the economy is actually improving (despite all of their efforts to sabotage it), and, aside from a ridiculously maligned debate performance by President Obama in that first one, the Obama campaign hasn't had any major stumbles and the Romney Campaign has had several. Tell me again how Romney/Ryan are winning?

Also, I would add that there has been tremendous effort and attention to GOP voter suppression/disenfranchisement efforts this year as well, so the likelihood of them being able to pull off a "grand theft election" a la 2000 seems a lot less likely IMHO.
