With the attacks in Benghazi, Libya still haunting President Obama, his campaign appears ready to play offense. On the eve of the final presidential debate on foreign policy, Democrats Sunday drew a portrait of Romney as an untested politician who bungled his way through a summer trip abroad and could potentially bluster his way into a war with Iran.
With appearances on the Sunday talk show circuit and a new campaign video, Team Obama made a concerted effort to paint Mitt Romney as a risky choice for commander in chief while shaming Republicans for politicizing the Libya attacks.
People want to know that they have a strong, steady hand in the Oval Office, David Axelrod, a top adviser to the Obama campaign, said on NBCs Meet the Press. And they dont want someone whos reckless and whos been consistently wrong on foreign policy issues, as Governor Romney has.
Axelrod continued: We all remember his Dukes of Hazard tour of international destinations of the summer where he not only roiled countries that are not as friendly to us, but our best ally, Britain. He was wrong on Libya. He was wrong on Iraq.

(19,458 posts)The repugs can't touch him on it, but they try. They have politicized the death of our Ambassador, to the point where his family is telling them to stop. But they persist. The Romney campaign and his financial backers are devoid of humanity.

(1,372 posts)That's exactly what he is. We've seen it with his saber rattling on Iran and Syria. And we've seen it in the way he jumped on Benghazi before knowing any facts. Not only that, this characterization will ring true with the American people. They see it in his personality, they've see it in his bullying of both candidates and moderators in the primary and presidential debates. And I suspect we'll see Romney continue to show this same behavior in tomorrow's debate, too, so calling out his short fuse, irresponsible words and wrecklessness in the debate, while he's exhibiting exactly those kinds of behaviors for all to see, would be effective.
