North Carolina's biggest newspaper endorses Obama
by Christian Dem in NC
The Charlotte Observer, North Carolina's largest newspaper, endorsed Barack Obama for another term in this morning's edition.
It's a somewhat half-hearted endorsement--but it's an endorsement nonetheless. The first paragraph makes it sound like the Observer editorial board seriously considered withholding its endorsement.

No kidding it's "half-hearted." Here's the title: At a crucial time, uninspiring choices for president
The title and lede are horrible, but the last few paragraphs nail it:
<...>
Obama certainly has had accomplishments. Overseas, he has largely restored Americas standing in the world with a less bellicose approach to foreign policy. He gave the orders that killed Osama bin Laden, and he has weakened bin Ladens al Qaida. At home, many economists feel his $787 billion stimulus in 2009 helped pull the country back from depression, and his managed bankruptcy bailout of U.S. automakers was the right move for Detroit and the economy as a whole.
Most significantly, the Affordable Care Act was an historic victory, providing the opportunities for insurance coverage to all Americans.
Obamacare also illustrates the biggest contrast between the president and his challenger. In words and some deeds, Obama has worked to protect vulnerable Americans the uninsured, gays, the children of illegal immigrants. Hes governed with a philosophy that all Americans deserve at least the opportunity for success, and hes advocated for tax reform and an educational infrastructure that would promote fairness.
The America he believes in celebrates the common good as well as the individual good. When the economy improves and it will the country needs a president with that agenda, with those values. We endorse Barack Obama for another four years.

(24,396 posts)4. What are the "big name" newspapers endorsing Romney so far?
I've only seen one endorsement for him so far- Orlando Sentinel- and it was pretty half-hearted as well, mostly consisting of "we tried Barack Obama for 4 years and things aren't perfect yet, so let's give Mitt Romney a crack at it."
It seems like, with a lot of prominent newspapers not endorsing Mitt Romney for POTUS, it would appear that he's not quite "sealing the deal" yet.
