2016 Postmortem

Obama can really hit it out of the park explaining his foreign policy Monday night. I heard commentators on Diane Rehm today, a centrist program, all stating really good arguments about Libya that Obama can use to show his reasonableness on the catastrophe there, and overall in the middle east, including contrasting his positions with the neo-cons.
The middle east is a tinder box. It behooves one to proceed with caution. Obama has demonstrated both his toughness and his reasonableness, as well as his equanimity (Israel) in his first term, in my opinion.
If Mr. Obama can articulate his foreign policy philosophy clearly Monday night, it could rise to the standard of his speech about his connection to Rev. Wright in the 2008 election, and it could be equally as transformative for his campaign.

(225 posts)They simply believe the United States is the greatest and most powerful country ever in the history of the galaxy and that we can do no wrong ever anywhere ever, and they just want to be reminded of that.
So any foreign policy question in this country comes with a real simple answer: "I support the troops and freedumb."
Doesn't matter what the question is, just "I support the troops and freedumb."
What's your plan in Libya? "I support the troops and freedumb in Libya."
What's your plan in Egypt? "I support the troops and freedumb in Egypt."
So on and so forth...

(576 posts)Anyone who cares for the intricacies of foreign policy is someone who understands the complexity of situations. They are also likely people who read a great deal, are engaged with the world, and look for facts over ambiguous platitudes.......these sorts of people dont vote for the GOP.
Most Americans believe "turn their deserts into glass" is a sound policy.
