Mitt Romney Destroying Our Democracy By Urging Businesses To Tell Their Employees How To Vote
This is Plutocracy at its worst. In the workplace it is common practice that because an employer has a certain amount of “power” over the employee because their income is dependent on the employer, the employer should not have relationships outside the purview of the job. It is no different than a boss having a relationship with a subordinate because of their position of power.
Yet, Mitt Romney, the bastion of our Plutocracy feels free to encourage employers to threaten, coerce, or “encourage” their employees to vote for him. This should be prosecutable as voter intimidation.
We lose our democracy when the few owners of capital are able to control the political, social, and family behaviors of those that work for them. I cannot understand why this story is not likely the biggest story of our election as it is nothing but an attack on our democracy.
Republicans like to talk about fearing government, government being too big, and government being too intrusive. They forget government is “we the people” and that if we do not like those who represent “we the people”, we can democratically vote them out. When your employer or the Plutocracy is allowed to manipulate that freedom it means the end to government as “we the people” and becomes government of the wealthy few.
Mitt Romney must be penalized for attempting to coerce votes by leveraging the power of those who control business over the well-being of their employees. We should all speak up about this. Most importantly, we must deny Mitt Romney the presidency lest this behavior become the norm going forward.
