Can someone explain why there are comments where people are giving up on FL?

It's still competitive IMHO. There was some guy from Suffolk(?) saying that they're not going to do any more polling there b/c they believe that Romney has it in the bag. Ultimately, however, as long as we get Ohio (which is generally looking good for us) and a couple of other states, we don't need it. I don't think that it's necessarily unattainable, however.

That's why I won't walk my absentee ballot into the Elections Office until they actually start counting them, a week before Election day. I don't trust leaving it in a Republican controlled office where they once allowed a Republican to walk in and make corrections on Absentee Ballots.

Florida is more conservative than the rest of the country--about +3-4% Republican compared to everyone else. So, if Obama's down 1-2 nationally, he's probably down 4-6 in Florida, which looks awfully insurmountable this late.

We've had gads more registered voters in most of them for decades. That doesn't translate to wins in national races.

I don't agree that anyone (who matters) has "given up" on Florida (if for not other reason than we have a senate race to win there that won't be endangered as long as the president keeps it close). I also don't agree that we're more than 3-4 points down there.

10. I live in South FL. A few days after the first debate as the MSM went crazy (along with a number of

previously rational supporters of the President) I saw my first (!) bumper sticker for Romney Ryan.

In the last week, signs for RomneyRyan has sprouted up like mushrooms in a meadow. In addition, the American Crossroads ads have littered the airwaves....

In other words-- the money machine is taking a big wet stinking dump on South Florida. The trolls are on DU are doing their job re: FL in a concerted effort.

It's all timing. It's all about the verbiage. It's all about the "style" (I'm concerned, UHOH, lookout, etc.)

It's pathetic, predictable, and, unfortunately, potent for those who are reacting first and thinking second.

Remember folks-- the online world is just another medium. Yes, this medium *should* allow for more thoughtful discourse than yard signs and bumper stickers--but only if people take the time to think when they read the "bumper sticker" "Stick-and-moves" of the trolls.

I am in full support of the thread to let these troll threads sink and die. In other words-- IGNORE THE "CONCERN" threads. Spend more time looking into the trends with real data, not the anecdotal "loose stool water" left behind by the trolls.

American Crossroads is going full bore right now in South FL. The MSM is going full bore over the next few weeks. We're going to have to survive the Jabba the Hutt "moderating" of Candy Crowley next week... WE WILL SURVIVE only if we know the facts and continue to put them out there. Give no quarter to the Republicans. We've got the facts supporting us. The reason. The common sense....


As for the Undecided Voters that everyone focuses on....that's a waste of time and space--time to take it to the media and the people.

12. I live in NW Florida in the Panhandle and I have noticed

since the debate a sprinkling of Romney/Ryan signs that have sprung up in my neighborhood. Also heard an AD on the radio today for Romney but I missed who was running it. I admit, it was disconcerting to drive out of my neighborhood and see the Romney Ryan signs because it was like they all appeared around the same time. I haven't seen a lot of bumper stickers of either candidate.

The debate last week took the wind out of my sails and then the appearance of the signs was disheartening, too. Then last night's performance by Biden took me straight out of the doldrums into a more hopeful place. I am putting a lot of faith in the President to do what he needs to do next week. I do think his future as our President is riding on it. If he turns in a strong performance the MSM will have a much harder time riding him like a rented mule the way they did this past week. They have attempted to blunt Biden's performance too, (except for MSNBC) but with less success. I noticed today that the more they talked about Joe the better the assessments seemed to get and the harder they were on Ryan. By Rachel's show, Ryan looked like a real loser. Couldn't happen to a more deserving guy.

13. FL has been slowly away from us the last decade

Look at Florida the last few presidential elections.

2000: Bush wins narrowly in disputed recount, Gore narrowly wins the popular vote nationally.
2004: Bush wins by 5.1 points in a narrow popular vote margin.
2008: Obama wins by only 1.8 points in a 6.3 popular vote margin

Ohio is a similar story, less people turned out in 2008 then 2004 there, which is a bad sign in my opinion if the GOP is motivated there. But Obama has a secret weapon in Ohio that's been helping his numbers there, the auto bailout and Romney's opposition to it.

Obama doesn't have a secret weapon like that to make inroads in Florida.

Obama may well win Florida, but if he does he probably would have gotten to 270 anyway without it.

I think the real important states for Obama are Virginia, Ohio, and a combination of Colorado, Iowa, Nevada, & New Hampshire (because some or all of those states are crucial for Romney to hit 270, how many depends on Ohio & Virginia).

There is a certain amount of pride, if you will, that comes from having the candidate of your choice win and knowing that your area was a part of that victory. It doesn't matter if your county or state was "needed," but you feel that much more a part of the win and a part of the process.

I've snuffed out at least a good dozen of them today alone. Signing up in the last week, parroting the same message of doom and gloom; more than likely paid by Rove and Friends. They otherwise spend their time find ways to rig the votes on DWTS to keep Bristol Palin on.

And if you think I'm kidding about this, here is an exerpt from a conservative message board regarding jimmying the votes in Bristol's favor from 2010
