* Reuters/Ipsos poll: Romney lead slips to 46 to 45 percent

WASHINGTON, Oct 12 (Reuters) - Joe Biden's spirited performance in the vice presidential debate had Republicans criticizing him for snide grins and a comment on Libya, but it set the stage for President Barack Obama to try to regain his footing during a rematch with challenger Mitt Romney next Tuesday.
After Obama was seen as largely passive against resurgent Republican Romney last week in their first debate before the Nov. 6 election, Biden fired up Democrats in Thursday's vice presidential debate by aggressively challenging Paul Ryan, Romney's running mate, on taxes, healthcare and foreign policy.

(1,828 posts)He's great with numbers. And I bet the night before the election, with all the final polls in hand, he may even be able to call all the states and precincts again.
But this far out, he should give up projecting and just say, "here's what 's happening right now." That's really all he's got. The fact that he talked up how debates never make a difference should show us we can count on no one and nothing to forecast what will happen. So we should stop poll freaking and just get Obama elected.

(5,689 posts)In a sign the race is tightening again, Romney led Obama by 1 percentage point, 46 to 45 percent, among likely voters in the Reuters/Ipsos daily online tracking poll released on Friday. Romney led by 3 percentage points in Thursday's poll. Most poll respondents were questioned before the vice presidential debate.

(26,035 posts)...this will be the only poll so far with (a small number of) interviews from after the debate. RV numbers, anyone?

(33,497 posts)but most were from before hand, still a good sign!! Second tracking poll of the day to show Obama gains.
But I won't be able to relax until Obama takes the lead.

(3,440 posts)And next week will be much more better.
Looking at tracker/forecasters always involves significant delay.
It would be like comparing the yearlong unemployment average with the current month's unemployment average.

(116,464 posts)I mean, the election is turning on a bunch of unreliable polls. There are polls showing Obama gaining, and somehow we're to believe Romney made huge gains out of a single debate.
It's just a question of whether it's subsiding now and whether we can get the momentum back.
If we put a stop to it now, that will be the best things ever get for Mitt.

(2,711 posts)Decidedly meh today.
Only notable move is a fairly significant drop in Dem "likelihood of voting."
