Now on to Town Hall Debate in New York

Obama territory. Students, Seniors, working class people, in the shadow of NYC. Not exactly friendly Robme land. Obama also seems to connect more with people in this type of venue. If the audience does not like what is being said, expect to hear the ole Bronx Cheer. Did Obama PLAN this?

My daughter lives about 5 miles from Hofstra. Damn, this is October 16th and I am going back to NY on the October 20th. Wish I could be there for this one.

Haven't been back in a long time. I'm in Florida now.

Recently I mentioned this to someone. He said, "Hoftra is the Harvard of Long Island." I said "Huh?"

My younger daughter lives in Levittown. I am from NYC, but we lived in Smithtown for 27 years.

Harvard?????? My husband took some IT certification classes there years ago.

...like me. I remember we couldn't rustle up an anti-Vietnam protest when Columbia was having riots. I'm from Far Rockaway but I lived in Chelsea for 20 years. (Still kick myself for giving up that rent stabilized apartment in an attempt to become bi-coastal.) Eventually, I wound up in Tamarac.

I feel decently educated, but I think Hofstra wins by default for Nassau County. (We don't talk about Stony Brook. LOL!) Maybe fees are Harvard-like. But I started when it was $35/credit.

but to Matriculate, I had to take and get high scores on their Adult Admissions test. I had a B average going to school part time and working full time. I quit both to raise a family.

At 48 I enrolled in Suffolk CC, and was told by so many people that after so many years away from school, I would never be able to go back. It was a breeze. I graduated from CC with a 3.9 (legal studies), Phi Theta Kappa, and Who's Who of National CC grads. I got enough 4 year university brochures and offers of scholarships from AROUND THE COUNTRY to wallpaper my entire house. I guess they didn't look at my AGE. lol Well, even after so many years, CC in comparison to NYU was like Kindergarten.

No offense intended, but to equate HOFSTRA with HARVARD? I don't think so.

I think it's the student who determines the depth of an education. But I'm sure you know that.

I laughed when I heard the comparison.
