2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumHill attack dog Brock demands Bernie halt his
negative campaigning against Hillary the paragon. There is no one more vile in dem politics. Filthy.
A high-profile ally of Hillary Clinton is calling on Sen. Bernie Sanders to immediately halt all negative campaigning against the Democratic front-runner.
David Brock, founder of the Correct the Record super PAC, released a letter to Mr. Sanders Tuesday warning him that he could damage Mrs. Clintons chances against Republicans if he attacks her character and motivations.
The letter reflects a growing confidence in Mrs. Clintons camp that coming off her victory in the Nevada caucuses on Saturday she is in strong position to capture the Democratic nomination. Mrs. Clinton won two of the first three Democratic contests. Next up is the South Carolina primary on Saturday. A majority of the states Democratic voters are African-American, a loyal Clinton constituency, and polls show she is favored to win.
Mr. Brock, in an interview, said he grew concerned about Mr. Sanderss intentions after seeing some of his statements following the Nevada caucuses. Mr. Sanders suggested during a news conference on Monday in Boston that his rival inevitably will be influenced by the millions of dollars in special interest money flowing into the main pro-Clinton super PAC, Priorities USA Action.
Now, maybe they are dummies, Mr. Sanders said of Wall Street interests. And maybe they just think they throw millions of dollars and expect to get nothing. Maybe. I doubt that very much.

(127 posts)You can't talk rationally to irrational people. Examining their candidate? They don't give a damn. They certainly can't let any facts get in the way. It might cause a short circuit. (84,711 posts)U.S. judge orders discovery to go forward over Clintons private email system
By Spencer S. Hsu February 23 at 3:21 PM
The decision by U.S. District Judge Emmet G. Sullivan of Washington came in a lawsuit over public records brought by Judicial Watch, a conservative legal watchdog group, regarding its May 2013 request, for information about the employment arrangement of Huma Abedin, a longtime Clinton aide.
A State Department official said that the department is aware of the order and that it is reviewing it but declined to comment further, citing the ongoing litigation. Discovery orders are not readily appealable. An attorney for Abedin declined to comment.
Sullivan set an April deadline for parties to work out a detailed investigative plan--subject to court approval--that would reach well beyond the limited and carefully worded explanations of the use of the private server that department and Clinton officials have given.
Sullivan also suggested from the bench that he might at some point order the department to subpoena Clinton and Abedin, to return all records related to Clintons private account, not just those their camps have previously deemed work-related and returned.
There has been a constant drip, drip, drip of declarations. When does it stop? Sullivan said, adding that months of piecemeal revelations about Clinton and the State Departments handling of the email controversy create at least a reasonable suspicion that public access to official government records under the federal Freedom of Information Act was undermined. This case is about the publics right to know.
In granting Judicial Watchs request, Sullivan noted that there was no dispute that senior State Department officials were aware of the email set-up, citing a January 2009 email exchange including Undersecretary for Management Patrick F. Kennedy, Clinton chief of staff Cheryl D. Mills and Abedin about establishing a stand-alone network email system.
The watchdog group did not ask to depose Clinton by name, but its requests in its lawsuit targeted those who handled her transition, arrival and departure from the department and who oversaw Abedin, a direct subordinate.
Sullivans decision came as Clinton seeks the Democratic presidential nomination and three weeks after the State Department acknowledged for the first time that top secret information passed through the server.

(9,385 posts)Erin Burnett of CNN kept asking him that last night and Brock kept dodging, but Burnett and the Sanders surrogate weren't buying it. The Sanders guy was laughing at him.
Sanders people know she is going to win SC and the other states in her pocket just like she knew he was going to win NH. Losing the next few states wouldn't mean anything unless he had to go to big donors for funding, which of course he doesn't. So it's irrelevant.
Bernie's in for the long haul and he just might win it. Brock is nothing, nobody cares what he wants or thinks.

(650 posts)Psychological projection, also known as blame shifting, is a theory in psychology in which humans defend themselves against their own unpleasant impulses by denying their existence while attributing them to others. For example, a person who is rude may constantly accuse other people of being rude.
According to some research, the projection of one's negative qualities onto others is a common process in everyday life.
