it's a sad day for me on DU

This discussion thread was locked as off-topic by NH Ethylene (a host of the 2016 Postmortem forum).

This is where I go for the news, but today I couldn't actually find the news i was looking for on DU because of the ugly tempest in a teapot (my opinion of course, i recognize that for many this is the way to win for their candidate), I found out from facebook, then googled after many looks at DU.

I mean i know it has to be here somewhere. But this to me is fabulous news that ALL democrats should be celebrating, and the divide on DU has grown so wide that it can't be. that does make me sad.

There will NOT be another bush in the white house! can i get a "YEAH!"?

will look again. it probably got lost in the shitstorm.
to respond to your statement, I think he's out, out, out. He has proven to anyone's satisfaction that he cannot win. Now my biggest fear is Cruz - but I swear if all democrats were as rancorous and rigid as so many on DU, I would be up nights scared shitless that any republican might win. Trump as nominee is beginning to appeal to me, not least because i don't think he'd stand a snowball's chance in hell of winning a general election. and the way it's going the "establishment" republicans are not going to be able to broker jackshit. in the republican party the crazy has indeed taken over. but in the general electorate I still believe that vastly more people are horrified by their antics. When this dust has settled, we must come together for whichever democrat is nominated, and then we can win. No candidate is ever going to be the panacea for everyone.

anyway. for so many years now I come here every time there's some big news, and it's there on the front page, with comments from my compatriots, democrats, liberals such as myself. we should be celebrating jeb's defeat. but then maybe not, since it came at the hands of a party that more and more embraces fascism and is filled with "elected" representatives that represent no one but themselves and their owners - not the american people. This to me should be the big fight that all of DU should be able to rally around. yet we just cannot seem to get out of our own way long enough to do that. makes me sad.

It's in Latest Breaking News and there are multiple discussions of it in General Discussion.

There are a few in GDP but they are LOCKED because it has zero to do with the Democratic Primaries, which is what this forum is about.

I'd expect this thread to get locked as well because it doesn't fit with the statement of purpose.

After this candidate nomination is over in our Party and here at DU, won't be any, from me, any slaps on the back and moving on. The way some people have treated others on this forum is despicable and totally unforgivable. I have been taught by the so called liberals and progressives here and in the last 50+ years of fighting and waiting for a truly equal society to emerge from a tired and worn chrysalis but no the slumber continues as it has since the 17th/18th century. I do understand at 68 years old why so many cultural problems still plague this society when they should be in the dustbin of history...hypocrisy and fear of different.

This is an excellent teaching tool and reflection of the progressive movement. And to all who might say it's getting better? I say for who?

Mr. Bush’s campaign had rested on a set of assumptions that, one by one, turned out to be flatly incorrect: that the Republican primaries would turn on a record of accomplishment in government; that Mr. Bush’s cerebral and reserved style would be an asset; and that a country wary of dynasties would evaluate this member of the Bush family on his own merits.

Au contraire. The country DID evaluate him on his own merits. That was his problem.

But, should HRC win the top of the D ticket, then I hope enough people can shake off the apathy, hold our noses, and vote for her.

Hillary! She's maybe better than Trump, maybe! (That'll look good on a bumper sticker).

due. Jeb is a dumbass, and Trump is right, he is weak sauce. He was governor of a state that keeps electing someone as bad and repulsive as Rick Scott.

I wouldn't celebrate too soon. George P. Bush was elected to the Texas General Land Office in 2014. He is half Hispanic and working in the Bush leagues of Texas (pardon the pun)! I would guess that he will run for Congress next and start his building a national presence. We have not seen the last of this privledged family! Damn!!!

... he's merely "suspending" his campaign, and he could "re-activate" it if the ground conditions became more favorable for him. Also, he's "young" enough that he could make a Nixonian return into national politics in 4 or 8 years. (Perish the thought!)

But, today, I CELEBRATE!!!
