(In NH) A friend of mine was just turned away at her ward.

She is a life-long Democrat who last voted for Obama in 2012. When she went to sign in, she was told that she was listed as a registered REPUBLICAN and that she would not be allowed to vote in the Dem primary today. The only way she would be considered a Republican (without her changing her affiliation), is if she had voted for the Repub in the last primary election. I dont know what the fuck is going on here.

She was apparently interviewed by a reporter on her way out. I'm trying to find out what channel that reporter was with. Will update if I get more info.

Oh, and I have no idea who she was going to vote for. Either way its absolute bullshit!

edited to correct: Presidential to primary. Not thinking straight right now.

And a vote should be actively contacted to let them know their status is being changed so they can rebut if needed.

We don't register by party. They stamp our voters card at the primary poll so we can't vote in both.

Michigan is an open primary state so I cast a vote for Santorum just as a way to give a little taste of Rush's "operation chaos" to the Republicans.

It would not surprise me if she voted in the (R) primary in 2012.

Its validity will be reviewed at a higher level after the polls close. No one should ever walk out without doing that, and it should be affirmatively offered to the voter by whoever's running the precinct.

If you are an I you can chose either ballot your want. They set up a table where you can switch back to an (I) before you leave if you want to. A registered D cant vote in the R primary and visa-versa.

And If you're an I and you dont switch back, your registration is automatically changed to whatever primary you voted in.

Assuming this wasn't a mistake, though one can assume many voted R last time since there wasn't a big challenge to Obama.
