(28,017 posts)I guess the internal battles are really beginning to be heard outside the campaign.

(6,551 posts)In a panel following the Dem NH debate, Mitchell said that she favored Hillary releasing transcripts/tapes of her conversations with donors, not just speeches.
That is a step too far. Transcripts of private conversations? It sounds like the Patriot Act redux.
And I wonder what other candidates would be willing to do that. Again, a double standard expectation for Hillary and coming from Mitchell, that was surprising.

(3,623 posts)She was up by 40 points in the state last year. Likewise with Iowa. If you go from massive lead to 0.3% win, I could see how it's a shock.

(12,655 posts)suggesting that months back, the campaign did not expect to be in this position at this time. we can infer anything, but she did not give a time frame, she just made the statement.

(47,209 posts)I noticed during the Iowa caucus they really did not get really excited about the neck and neck Dem race at the end there (Rachel Maddow being a very notable exception). I feel like they would have hyped it a hell of a lot more if they were prepared to hype it, you know? Like it was a snowstorm or something. Instead they spent way too much time on the Republican results and ignored a truly historic race. WTF?
I feel like, in this case, some thoughtless assistant suggested in notes the idea that Clintons might be "shocked" and she just went with it out of laziness. I'm sure they are not thrilled, and it is a negative word, so who cares if it is even close to correct, right? Just makes zero sense. Clinton is not a deluded moron, she is a realistic person.

(11,986 posts)Only since January 19 has he had better odds of winning NH. So yeah, until pretty recently, they probably didn't anticipate it.

(14,733 posts)the spin coming out will be about how they did so much better than the polls suggested, and will be played off as being a matter of her 'strength', rather than about indies deciding to play around in the repub race rather than the dem one because they expect Sanders to win handily.

With the NH primaries being open, a LOT of the indies are going to simply expect Bernie to win, so what's the point for them in voting Dem this time? They'll want to vote in the Republican primary, and get their chance to sway how that lot shakes out, see if they can't shake a couple of fools out of the race.

(15,859 posts)The ruling class has No fucking clue what we peons deal with. They have no idea what it's like for regular people to live from day to day. But every 4 or 8 years they like to pretend they do. I'm done being a pawn for them. DONE.

(12,704 posts)fabulous wealth they just have no bloody clue. Hiillary took the cake when she told Barbara Walters that they were "dead broke" when they left the WH. Dead broke my ass, they coughed up $86,000 for all the stuff they "mistakenly' took from the WH and spent several million on a home, then more to furnish it.

(19,926 posts)Sanders has been the clear front runner for so long. They are readying us to accept that his 'loss' is real if and when it happens.
Now I don't think he will lose, I think he might 'lose' though. If you catch my drift.

(41,600 posts)That's what you get for thinking you're inevitable, so you plotted and planned with DWS and her corrupt DNC to limit debates to limit YOUR GAFFE exposure. And then you had your corrupt corporate owned MSM ignore Bernie for 9 months until he almost beat you in IOWA!
NOW they have to cover him, but it's too late for you to stop THE MOVEMENT! Now that he's getting covered, HIS MOVEMENT will only GROW bigger and bigger! The entire country is -

(2,161 posts)She did everything possible to waltz to the nomination, and it's slipping away.
My heart really goes out to the people who truly want her to be the first woman president. They are going to be hurt when she's defeated once again.
She did everything to allow space for Bernie's $27 people powered movement to gather steam. 6 months ago, she laughed at the prospect that he could be a credible competitor, according to accounts of people who met her on ropelines or at events. The Clintons really did underestimate him.
