HIGH POINT, N.C., Feb. 8, 2016 The High Point University Poll has found former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in the lead in North Carolinas Democratic Primary for President of the United States over Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont. On the Republican side, more of North Carolinas likely Republican primary voters support Donald Trump. Sens. Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio are his closest competitors.
The survey of likely Democratic primary voters found that a majority (55 percent) support Secretary Clinton, and 29 percent favor Sen. Sanders. The other two candidates on the ballot former Maryland Gov. Martin OMalley and California businessman Rocky De La Fuente received virtually no support. Gov. OMalley suspended his campaign after the Iowa Caucuses on Feb. 1, during the administration of the HPU Poll.

(11,197 posts)Someone did put up a string of Ben Carson signs along one road here though. Was in the Ballantyne area so that would be expected there. I haven't really seen a lot of yard signs for any candidate, seems many are either forgoing the yard sign altogether, or maybe it's still too early? The ones I have seen though are for Bernie. I've spotted several Bernie bumper stickers tooling about town though.

(11,197 posts)we also have many Republicans here as well however several of our close friends (all generally heavily GOP leaning which is common around these parts), and they have come out to us a Bernie supporters. They despise 'em some Hillary, but they will listen to what Bernie has to say...and they like it. One friend was all about Carly Fiorina for a while and we tangled a few times in good fun (we've always been Bernie supporters and at the start they picked on us some), called me the other day and said "I wanted to call you first to let you know I just donated to Bernie". I about fell outta my chair except I was standing up at the time. Ultimately, when all is said and done, I think Bernie will do quite well in NC.
