I'm back!! Quick question...

This discussion thread was locked as off-topic by tammywammy (a host of the 2016 Postmortem forum).

Longtime member from, I think, 2003 or 2004? I did not think that this would be a good place for me this year, as I figured that the forums would be inundated with supporters for Candidate X, while I strongly support Candidate Y -- this is the first time I've been heavily partisan in a primary. I was at least partly right, but thanks to the admins' survival guide, I've trashed the Primaries forum (except for checking this thread) and Candidate X's forum, and it all looks sane now! Very nice.

My question: I remember back in 2004 and 2008, there was a rule that once a candidate clinched the nomination, people were allowed to vent their anger for 4-5 days, and then were expected to support the nominee. (It obviously wasn't a rule in 2012.) Is that rule still in effect this year?

So far no specific parameters have been set, other than Skinner's somewhat vague claim that they generally don't take seriously threats to vote for a non-Democrat at this point (though that seems to be tightening, FWIW).

(BTW, that's just this long-time -- though not as long as you -- DUer's take on this from the past. This might be a good post for Ask the Administrators.)

I would appreciate a clarification on this from the admins. I was banned from the Bernie group for supporting the tombstoning of one of their members on one post. Apparently, unlike the hosts of the Bernie group, I support not only Bernie, but also the DU TOS which was previously made clear by Skinner.

The vitriol between the two candidate camps has become nearly intolerable. I have to cringe every time I load DU and when clicking through to a post reveals only personal attacks and rubbish arguments, from both sides.

I am ashamed of many of my fellow DUers, many who I might have previously called allies. Now, I just shake my head and sob, wondering how in the Sam Hell are we going to win this with such deep divisions?

I will heartily support and vote for Bernie in my state's primary. I will heartily support and vote for whoever gets the Democratic nomination. That's the way Democrats win, which is what these forums are all about.
