My cousin, a Sanders supporter, was very unhappy with his SNL gig

He said that the Titanic skit made him look and sound like a crotchety old man who seemed older than he is - they should have put him in a different setting and different clothes so that he could have seemed hipper.

He thinks it was intentional and means that the SNL crew is in the tank for Hillary.

Really.

Perhaps their disappointment can be attributed to having set their expectations too high. Now that I think about it, this is probably the most likely reason and the cause of all the angst that's being expressed regarding his recent appearance on the show.

Yet, I mention the perspective of one Sanders supporter who I am related to - a perspective that a few Sanders supporters seem to agree with - and y'all have a natural-born fit and insist that: 1) I'm lying; 2) I'm engaging in false "concern;" 3) I'm trying to stir up trouble or make some elusive point; 4) my cousin is "whining;" and even demand to know what race and age my cousin, as if I am under some obligation to prove something to you.

That must annoy you when some black folk don't fall in line like they are supposed to, otherwise why even bring this up.

I liked the way that his skit was based upon the whole 1% thing, and really I think that the skit was less about Bernie qua Bernie and more about how OF COURSE it's objectionable that the rich are saved from a disaster and how the rest of us aren't.

Your cousin may be overthinking this. It's not as though anybody is going to think a costume in an SNL skit has anything to do with a person's current hipness.
