Introducing Discussionist: A new forum by the creators of DU

Paul Ryan seems a little "off" to me.

Something about that guy just doesn't seem right...his face, his mannerisms, how absoltely confident he is that he's right about everything...if he was fixing my toilet or my furnace, I'd be right there looking over his shoulder. Do you know what I mean?:0(

1. Yes, I know what you mean

He is a phone - plain and simple. He's not smart. Nothing he says makes sense and anyone with a brain can see that.

I can't put my finger on it. He looks somewhat like an old man.

After Nov. 6th he'll have lots of time to get help for whatever it is that makes him so weird.

8. I'm sure that didn't help...

But he has always creeped me out. He has beautiful eyes but there is no joy or humanity behind his eyes. His smile isn't genuine. He's like a charactor in a Lifetime movie who seems normal but then you find out that his parents kept him locked in a closet his whole life with nothing to do except read Ayn Rand.

in that he has the smile when he should not.

People booing him, he is not on the page with where the crowd is, and he has that well practiced smile.

5. I wouldn't even let him in to fix the toliet

he looks creepy. And every time he asserts something too much white shows in his eyes (3 points say he lying). He looks like someone who manipulates people to do what he wants. He's creepy. And his head is too small.

7. Remember the famous quote from Quint in Jaws?

"And, you know, the thing about a shark... he's got lifeless eyes. Black eyes. Like a doll's eyes. When he comes at ya, doesn't seem to be living... until he bites ya, and those black eyes roll over white and then... ah then you hear that terrible high-pitched screamin'."

Both Ryan and Mittens have shark eyes. There is just nothing behind them.

10. You know, you're right.

A while ago someone posted a series of pix of Lyin Ryan asking "Does this man have lips?".

As if we didn't know Mittens was an idiot before, he actually thought putting this tool on his ticket would bolster his chances?

Still finding it humorous that they hid Ryan away for weeks, and then when they trotted him out in front of AARP members he was loudly booed.

Cretin.

His forehead is very small, and the prominent widow's peak accentuates that, along with his dark, heavy eyebrows. He also gives off a very strong frat-boy "Bro" vibe to me, which I find rather repulsive.

16. That episode scared the s**t out of me.

While Rod Serling was more identified with Twilight Zone (never get tired of that series), Night Gallery had some seriously creepy eps. Remember the earwig? Or "while you were asleep I took the liberty of removing your feet"?

(Shudder...)

25. Welcome to DU, slydog!

Back in the early 80s I was transferred to West Texas to open a new office. We worked minimum 15 hour days, and when I'd go back to my apartment I'd just flop on the bed and crash.

Well, one night something woke me up and I went into the bathroom to see in the mirror a huge earwig spraddled over my collarbone. Aaagh! Ugggh! Ewwww!

Channeling Laurence Harvey!

Then there was that gross ep called Green Fingers with Elsa (Bride of Frankenstein) Lanchester, where she refused to sell her farm to some evil rich dude and he sent a couple of guys to kill her. But first she chopped off her own fingers and planted them...

Dang - I have to find that series on Netflix.

44. I love that story!

What can you do when you age but laugh at it?

The world's oldest verified person was Jeanne Calment (from France, but that's OK). She died in 1997 at age 122, having sold brushes to Vincent Van Gogh in her youth. She rode a bicycle around Arles until she was 100.

Fascinating woman. And very quotable:

Calment was as alert as a hummingbird and shows no signs of senile dementia. She was well known and liked for her tart wit. Some of her famous quatations are listed below:

"I've waited 110 years to be famous, I count on taking advantage of it," she quipped at her 120th birthday party.

Also on her 120th birthday, when asked what kind of future did she expect, she replied “A very short one.”

Getting used to growing media attention with every year that passes, she quips: “I wait for death… and journalists.”

“When you’re 117, you see if you remember everything!” She rebuked an interviewer once.

Her birthdays were a sort of family holiday in Arles, where all the people of Arles gathered around their “Jeanne D’Arles”. In one of this party, somebody took leave by telling her, “Until next year, perhaps,” she retorted: “I don’t see why not! You don’t look so bad to me.”

She may be most famous in France, where she was the “doyenne of humanity”, for her many bons mots, including “I've never had but one wrinkle, and I'm sitting on it.”

18. He reminds me of high school students I used to teach...

Those over-eager brown-nosers who hover over your shoulder,
pretend to hang on your every word,
those 'pleasers' who volunteer every answer,
get their homework in early,
suggest other ways to manage things,
and berate other students openly...

BUT when your back in turned, everything changes...
you catch them in lies, and backstabbing....

You know you can't trust them an inch...
that all they are seeking is attention,
and to further their narcissistic interests.

It's sad to see young people become so craven so young...
and that's our buddy Paul Ryan.
He's very young, and so doctrinaire...
Chances are when his team loses...
he'll have a 'come to JEsus' moment,
see the light, and proclaim himself progressive.
It's all about opportunism.

I was using "Romney/Munster 2012!" for a while but no one seemed to get it (too much snark for my own good). Anyway, if you Google Eddie Munster and switch to images view, there are Paul Ryan mixed pictures in there.

EDIT: Looks like we've covered this ground before:
