It's so hot out in Shanghai right now, you could fry an egg on the Bund

In case you haven't been outside lately, it's really damn hot in Shanghai. We're talking nearly 40 degrees Celsius hot. Apparently, if you so desired you could even fry up an egg on the deserted Bund under the sweltering mid-day sun.

According to the Shanghai Meteorological Bureau, Shanghai has experienced 10 days of continuous high temperatures, hitting a scorching peak yesterday of 39.2 degrees Celsius.

To demonstrate that it was in fact hot out, an enterprising team of reporters left an egg on the Bund to see if it would fry out in the sun. It took about 15 minutes.

So, if you can handle the heat, now might be an opportune time to head down to Shanghai's most famous landmark for some clear sight lines and free scrambled eggs.
