"I deal with a great number of visiting performance companies, and I can say that the show by Divine Performing Arts was the best Ive seen in all my 60 years.

~Prof. Chi-mao Li, National Taiwan College of Arts

The dances were graceful, delicate, and beautiful! There was something pure and bright and also very dignified about them. This show gave me a real sense of goodness and meaning in life.

~ Anna Liceica, Soloist, American Ballet Theatre

Its very artistic, and you just feel nice watching it. Its hard to explain exactly what it is about it thats so beautiful.

~Marc Reese, trumpeter, Empire Brass

Absolutely magical The gorgeous costumes, the gracefulness, the beautiful choreography, the beautiful music Its beauty from beginning to end. Everybody that I know who has seen it, everybody comes away with exactly the same opinion: Everybody says you have to see it to believe it. You cannot describe it in words; it must be experienced.

~Christine Walevska, cello virtuoso

...a highly professional, well thought out and beautifully produced presentation! This is not only entertainment, but a valuable cross-over cultural event: a strong, gracious gesture toward international understanding, in an all-too-troubled world.

~Donn B. Murphy, Ph.D., President, The National Theatre

It amazed me The choreography is phenomenal, I think its the best show that I ever saw. The best. Even the backgrounds, the dancing, the choreography and the music, the singing - everything. I am very, very lucky to see this amazing and fabulous performance, and I couldnt have imagined it would be like this.

~Valentina Alexess, former ballerina, Moscow Ballet

Wonderful a grand show, a spectacle It was atmospheric, mesmerizing.

~Jennifer OLoughlin, Soprano, Vienna Volksoper

No words can describe the whole show. Amazing may be one way to describe it. It is so magnificent I have never watched such wonderful dance in my life! Its hard to describe. Perfection may be the right word.

~Mieke Bouve, Belgian actress

The theme of the show was very clear, depicting Chinese culture and history that is traditional and authentic. The programs displayed the courage, wisdom, and hardworking spirit of the Chinese people. Their hearts are so open and giving. Inspiring!

~Nilas Martins, Principal dancer, New York City Ballet

Be transported to a world of heavenly maidens and magical fire-breathing dragons as the show combines amazing costumes and exhilarating dance routines guaranteed to leave people wanting more.

~The Canberra Times

Gorgeous. Beautiful!

~WABC Eyewitness News

The stunning gracefulness and strength of the individual dancers is immeasurably enhanced with precise and imaginative group choreography, sumptuous costuming, and magnificent set designs and backdrops using traditional painting together with multi-media technology. The entire production is a beautiful blend of antiquity and modernity... If youre bone-weary of the offensive, obscene, absurd, and insipid offerings that are passed off as entertainment and culture these days, you owe it to yourself and posterity to indulge your inner aesthete in the refreshingly innocent beauty and artistic splendor which these outstanding artists bring to the stage.

~The New American

Gloriously colorful... Ancient legends and courageous heroic figures come to life through its leaps, its spins and its delicate gestures.

~PhillyBurbs.com

Extraordinary.

~ Femme Actuelle

Combines ancient and modern with spectacular pageantry wholesome, family-friendly revives cultural holiday traditions, some dating back 5,000 years, which had all but been forgotten.

~Ottawa Sun

I got a brochure on this event today, with many beautiful pictures. It says:

Reviving 5,000 years of civilization.

That line reminds me of a Chinese friend whose family had moved to the USA. Her parents along with their grandparents had fled to Hong Kong and then the USA. They operated a small grocery store and lived upstairs.

As she related the history and dynasties and the years involved to me, it blew my mind. She said, of course, the part further back was really myth. America is not old enought to have any lasting mythology, IMO.

I invited her to Thanksgiving Dinner and she did what most southern dinner guests once did, and maybe Asian families do, and brought a box of sweets as a gift. And she fell *in love* with mashed potatoes, LOL.

I'm not interested in the political aspects, only the beautiful music and dancing. The comment in the video and the brochure says it is not seen in China. And that the dance troupe is based in New York. It says it will be a multi-media event with animations of the ancient history of China.

It will be performed this week:

Marion Oliver McCaw Hall
Seattle Center
321 Mercer Street
Seattle, 98109

Tickets from Ticketmaster.

I won't attend as I'm not well and couldn't afford it. Seats range from $70-180, but I love the music. I'm posting for those who may be able to see it in Seattle or in other cities.

Just beautiful. I loved the video, and yes, ticket prices are way out of line for me too. I only get to go when my sister takes me.

It was here in Boston in February.

Thank you, freshwest!
