Argus Leader: Former S.D. lawmaker kills self after drugs, computers seized from home
A 16-year veteran of the South Dakota Legislature committed suicide one day after detectives seized computers and marijuana from his Sioux Falls home as part of a child pornography investigation.
Authorities served a search warrant on the home of 60-year-old Gil Koetzle at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, according to Minnehaha County Sheriff Mike Milstead.
Detectives served the search warrant after the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force traced a series of explicit images involving girls between 6 and 15 years old to Koetzle’s email account.
According to the search warrant paperwork, filed Friday afternoon in Minnehaha County, detectives seized computers, CDs, a cell phone, 13 grams of marijuana in six separate baggies and miscellaneous drug paraphernalia.
