"The Most Important Thing in the World"

Something one of my younger friends brought to my attention. I thought this might be a good place to share it.

Comment and share as you see fit.

I'm just passing it along, for what it's worth. It sounded like a great way to talk to younger folks with critical, skeptical, examining high school and college minds about religion and atheism.

looking at religion from the point of view of open-mindedness in the increase in knowledge in the world, a perspective high school and college kids today are mostly open to.

It attacks ALL religions, not on the basis of any of their particular beliefs, but from the point of view of being open and inquisitive, something most religions either limit or refuse to allow.

We see people over on those other forums totally accepting that their religion should be free from the forces of curiosity and advancement, in one form or another, from circumcision to claiming that there are "other - non-rational-ways of knowing" about what is out there.

My comment was reiterating what the video had to say---that religions tell people to not question.

and necessary for them to claim that they CAN know it. Like after a disappointment or a tragedy, when they like to pretend they're sure it's all part of god's plan, and that he knows what's best for us (instead of him just wanting to make people suffer, or not really caring one whit in the first place).
