I don't know if this has been posted before. I didn't see it in in a cursory search.
This guy's channel is freaking hilarious.

(1,536 posts)I've been following NSC's channel for about a year now. Awesome stuff.
His video series about the moronic concept of 'free will' is spot on.

(16,232 posts)this is story that put him over the edge of being a non-believer (if he ever really believed). He was brought up going to Church - heck he went to the Church preschool his whole life. His Sunday School teacher had already complained about how "all his questions" were confusing the other children. When he went on a rant about Noah's Ark and how it was IMPOSSIBLE, she had a complete melt-down and said maybe he shouldn't come anymore!
His logic helped me to finally let go of my life-long indoctrination (my own questioning my entire life I had managed to suppress because I thought I HAD to believe since everyone around me did! - I will add that it was the final straw for me - I had already started really thinking - as an adult - that I wanted no part of ANYthing that the hate-filled fundamentalists believed. )
At any rate, if a 5 yr old can figure this out, what does that say about those who still believe this is a "true story"? (I had at least made the leap to Biblical stories being metaphors. . . but he rejected that premise, too. "Mom, NONE of what they're telling me makes any sense! Some old guy living up in heaven? Where is heaven anyway? None of it's true. It can't be - it's just NOT LOGICAL!"
Well, who can argue with that?

There are few better examples of that than a 500-year-old man building a giant boat and loading 2 or 7 of every animal on Earth on board to survive a global flood.

(14,860 posts)Genesis is completely silent on when he started the ark and animal rustling. I think it makes the story a bit more plausible if it took him a hundred years to build the giant boat and gather every animal.
At least, that's how I'd embellish the story if I were telling it.
Act_of_Reparation
(9,116 posts)... I guess it depends on what version of the story we're supposed to take seriously.
At the end of Genesis 6, God commands Noah to build the ark and to gather two of every animal, but at the beginning of Genesis 7, God gives Noah seven days to collect seven pairs of every clean animal, one pair of every unclean animal, and one pair of "every bird of the sky" (sorry ostriches, emus, cassowaries, and penguins).
It just goes to show the kind of mental acrobatics apologists have to pull off to make this story "work". Hilariously enough, the story is even sillier after they try to make sense of it.

(14,860 posts)Maybe Noah had a time machine, used it to get the definitions of clean and unclean from Moses, then went back in time to figure out how many to take.

(325 posts)This is a re-hash of my previous video on Noah's Ark. This one is much more comprehensive, well-researched, well-referenced, and well-presented.
The real lesson of Noah's Ark has nothing to do with faith, miracles, or forgiveness. Noah's Ark is a humbling demonstration of the raw power of human self-deception. The only question about it is how on Earth anyone can still be stupid enough to take this crap seriously.
