Introducing Discussionist: A new forum by the creators of DU

That's it, I'm changing my religion! All hail The Picard!

The Picard brought my hurt friend to his castle in the sky and healed his injuries with his magic.

Now he demands all worship and pray to Him!

All hail The Picard!

1. Um...no.

Sorry, anyone that I worship has to have a full head of natural hair. Just can't worship a bald man.

3. That episode has one of the best lines in all of Star Trek.

"Dr. Barron, your report describes how rational these people are. Millennia ago, they abandoned below in the supernatural. Now you are asking me to sabotage that achievement: to send them back into the dark ages of superstition and ignorance and fear? No!"

12. The Picard speaks!!

My favorite:

"Your report describes how rational these people are. Millennia ago, they abandoned their belief in the supernatural.

"Now you are asking me to sabotage that achievement?! To send them back into the Dark Ages?!"

Glory be to The Picard!

6. All hail The Picard!

But Picard is as fictional as all the other gods!

7. "Measure of a Man"

Here, Picard defends Data's right to . . . choice, basically!

I loved Picard before, but I fell seriously in love with him in this segment.

9. That depends...

If you turn in your badge and fondue fork, you won't get a visit from the League of Militant Atheists.

If you want to stay an atheist and sneak out for a little Picard on the sly, there's no telling what might happen.

11. There... are... FOUR... LIGHTS!!!

That's right, The Picard, tell that Cardassian bastard how it is! He might've been yelling instead...

There... is... NO... GOD!!!

Love me some TNG. I run Linux on my MacBook (triple-boot OSX/Arch/Debian) and am a coder. I have redesigned my laptop to look like an LCARS terminal replete with live-updating system stats and logs. Am working on a Linux-based LCARS emulator as a side project. Whee! I have a github repo available with a clunky command-line installer for GTK-based Linux desktops (Gnome and Xfce) at github.com/joseph8th/lcars_gx.git if you wanna try it.

So yeah. Cult of The Picard, here.
