Humanist hero booed from Guatemalan Congress

Guatemala is an officially secular country with constitutional protection for religious freedom. However, since 97% of the people are deeply religious—with 65–70% Roman Catholic and the rest mainly evangelical Protestant—most of the population and the leadership think “religious freedom” means “the freedom to be religious.” They don’t think it means “freedom from religion.”

What is more frightening is how many people in the US feel the same way---that freedom of religion does not mean freedom from religion. They also believe that the only way to "save" America is to put God and prayer back in the schools. There are probably enough here to cause the same outcry as they saw in Guatemala.

All I can say is "heaven help us" if these factions get more power.

And keep us posted about how those votes in Guatemala go and if they need money to sue the government.
