(4,732 posts)you are saying "all Christians to be Jackass Zealots". I think it would be correct to say 'some Christians are Jackass Zelots' Just like some Muslims are jackass zelots, some Jews are jackass zelots and some Atheists are jackass zelots.
Why did you feel the need to change the 'some' to 'all' to make a point? There is a BIG difference between the two statements.

(16,862 posts)I admit to being more than a little peevish when I saw the post and posted before thinking.

(4,732 posts)backward thinking. What I got out of it was "anyone who would protest the 9/11 cross is, by that act alone, a jackass atheist zelot." I assume your thought process was the same and thus the peevishness!

At about that same time, various groups began lobbying the WTCMF to include the girder cross in the final design of the 9/11 Memorial & Museum. American Atheists spoke out against that suggestion, making numerous appearances to civic and governmental groups as well as on national media denouncing the suggestion as a blatant violation of the First Amendment and exclusionary to non-Christian Americans. It also offered to provide its own memorial artifact to be set next to the girder cross to honor all other Americans who died in the 9/11 attacks. American Atheists never received any response to its complaints or its offer of an additional memorial artifact.

(49,533 posts)that really brings out the anti-atheist in many. The hatred and bigotry go on full display.

(9,356 posts)...that someone will find 2 iron girders twisted into an ancient Buddhist religious symbol - the swastika.
And will then demand that be put on public display as well.
That should be a real test of the good ol' Lib'rul Xian tolerance.
Full Disclosure: I haven't been reading the "R" group much lately. But I read that whole thread dealing with the Great Iron Cross Controversy.
Conclusion: it's good to know that whenever I'm suffering a lack of smug condescension and clueless privileged arrogance, I know where I can go to fix that.

(111,245 posts)I don't think anyone would complain about a couple of burned, blasted and twisted beams on exhibit. However, were they to be displayed on their side instead of upright like that favorite of
Christian execution systems, there would be no problem.
I suggested in that stupid post that they read the names of the dead and count the Jews and Muslims on it. Using a stupid cross as a memorial would be an insult to those families.
Stupid Christians just don't get it, that their symbol just might be offensive to other people.
They often act like they are the only ones here.
