She seems pretty intelligent about most things but, religion is her blind side like so many I guess.

You'd think after several thousand years they'd come up with some new material.

I do believe RR is confusing 'religious dedication' with 'religion.' I also have a religious dedication to daily bowel movements, but I wouldn't call that a religion either (although I can understand confusing this activity with a church service. Both end products are pretty much identical).

she was awesome entertainment when she was on the air for years down in S. FL. That is, back when there was such a thing as locally produced shows and personalities almost everywhere in the US.

I wonder if believers can even think of not believing? Maybe after they read their holy books and start questioning.

“This is rather as if you imagine a puddle waking up one morning and thinking, 'This is an interesting world I find myself in — an interesting hole I find myself in — fits me rather neatly, doesn't it? In fact it fits me staggeringly well, must have been made to have me in it!' This is such a powerful idea that as the sun rises in the sky and the air heats up and as, gradually, the puddle gets smaller and smaller, frantically hanging on to the notion that everything's going to be alright, because this world was meant to have him in it, was built to have him in it; so the moment he disappears catches him rather by surprise. I think this may be something we need to be on the watch out for.”

― Douglas Adams, The Salmon of Doubt

We invent a god that fills the voids that we already have, and provides answers to the questions we haven't answered for ourselves.

(And even then, many of the "answers" are of the STFU variety)
