1. Bless you...I'll pray for you. Have you found Jesus? (Is he lost again?)

2. When I saw your subject line,

that was the first thing that I thought. They will tell you constantly, even if they phrase it in ways like "I will pray for you".
Thanks for the laugh. |

who will tell you the bad christians aren't really christian. I want so badly to bring up the 'Scotsman' thing with her, but don't want to lose her as a friend.

If her friendship is dependent on that, she doesn't seem like a very good Friend.

8. It's complex

Normally I'd let it drift off, but she's part of a group of friends and alienating her would impact negatively on my relationship with the rest. /sigh OTOH if this is the worst thing in my life, my life is pretty darn good.

5. That's especially true here in the southeastern USA

Ironically, some of the ones who crow loudest about how they go to church twice a week have been some of the most fundamentally (no pun intended) dishonest people I've ever met. A lot of them seem to support Romney, too, and his "Fuck everyone else, I got mine" ideology. Jesus would be so proud.

I don't think so.
I was "hit up" many more times in CA than in NC. And OK and KS seem pretty loud about it. |

9. Maybe it's because I'm in Memphis, closer to the heart of the Bible Belt?

Last edited Fri Oct 19, 2012, 04:20 PM USA/ET - Edit history (1) I'm surrounded by religious types here--there are six churches within a two-mile radius of my apartment, and five of the six are less than 1/2 a mile away. (The megachurch is the one that's furthest away, thank goodness.) There are also a bunch of people where I work who have cubes and offices plastered with religious art and bible verses. I've never seen anything like it anywhere else I've ever worked, even in Idaho, which has a significant LDS population. |

I get it constantly at work.
