Sally Quinn pedals backwards

says she meant the opposite of what she wrote last week. lulz
http://www.washingtonpost.com/national/on-faith/the-god-vote-meets-the-rage-of-atheists-agnostics-and-humanists/2012/10/11/76a547d4-133a-11e2-be82-c3411b7680a9_story.html

And that’s where my troubles began.

I wrote, to the dismay of many critics, “This is a religious country. Part of claiming your citizenship is claiming a belief in God, even if you are not Christian. We’ve got the Creator in our Declaration of Independence. We’ve got “In God we Trust on our coins. We’ve got “One nation under God” in our Pledge of Allegiance. And we say prayers in the Senate and the House of Representatives to God.” I ended by saying. “An atheist could never get elected dogcatcher much less President.”

To represent my true beliefs, I should have begun that last paragraph with the word, unfortunately. I do not believe that religion should play any role in politics. But that is not the world we live in.

and

A poll by the Pew Research Center for the People and the Press came out stating that religious voters, particularly evangelical protestants, were more inclined to vote for Romney after the debate.

Ummm, not for nothin but evangelical protestants were more inclined to vote repub since at least the late 70s when I started noticing stuff (and my church was telling us to)...And I doubt the last debate got Romeny more evangelicals - they were either already there or, like my brother, so hard core fundamentalist something else that they will never consider a culty mormon for president. (I admit I was a little surprised to hear my brother say that - i figured he'd go Romeny just becasue...I think he reason for not voting Rmoney is silly but I'm not about to try and change his mind. He still won't vote for Obama but he never would have so at least that's one less for Rmoney.)

edit to add - I don't think it was right for a few atheists to hope for her fiery death in a car crash and then eternity in her hell. She apparently received some emails like that. That is some bullshit. But I have to wonder how many rational, politely worded disagreeing emails she received compared to those? And why did she only highlight the really over the top ones? Agenda Schmagenda.

1. She wonders why she hasn't gotten hate mail from Muslims.

She should draw a picture of Mohammed in her next column; her Inbox would have some pretty interesting contents then.

She innocently asks, "Where did this rage come from?" after writing a column telling people to "FUCK OFF, you second class citizens!" Seriously, she can't be that stupid, can she?

2. I just don't know any more

people say stuff so effing dumb I have to wonder how they tie their shoes or conclude they are simply trolling. When your husband owns the paper it's pretty easy to troll.

4. Good thing she didn't spout off about adultery...

When Quinn wandered into the WaPo as a 26-yr-old "party reporter," she went for Ben Bradlee like a heat-seeking missile. And soon broke up his second marriage.

For lulz, Google "quinn broke up bradlee marriage."

Minor pedant note: Ben Bradlee doesn't own the WaPo but probably thinks he does. He's been the editor since Christ was a pup...and Watergate was a LONG LONG time ago.

The Graham family used to own the WaPo, but sold it some time ago IIRC.

3. She's got fine company

with the "where did this rage come from? question. There are lots of people (even some here at DU) that can't imagine why we're so angry about being treated like garbage.

5. Go shop for a party dress Sally.

Stop putting your stupidity on display for all the world to see if you don't like being laughed at.
